Far Cry 5

downloaded it lastnight but went to bed before it finished, well try and give it a crack tonight. I enjoyed 3 first time round.

Anyone playing the Mars DLC? I'm struggling to get on with it, Hurk is annoying as **** and the gunplay isn't my cup of tea. The constant ranged enemies are annoying as well.

Not sure if ill make it through this one.

Farcry 5 on the whole was a dissapointment. Though I did really enjoy it fir the most part it was ridiculously easy on the hardest difficulty and the way you were automatically captured took away from the fun a little for me. Also the AI was dissapointing. Traded it before the DLC but sounds like it was a cash grab. However the visuals on PS4 pro were among the best on PS4 and I actually really like the story and the Seed family. Have always enjoyed the combat in Farcry as it’s great fun with explosions and fire etc.

Agree with you, but I've only scratched the surface of it - and haven't touched it again.

It's really hard for me to put a finger on it - I loved the first Far Cry on PC, it was great - a stunning way to show off my PC's capabilities at the time; and even with the silly monsters I still enjoyed it immensely.

FC2 on PS3 was once again quite enjoyable, though it was my first ever FC game on console, so felt a bit 'dumbed down' - again hard to explain, but it just felt a bit wooley to me; but I just chalked it up to being used to the PC version previously.

FC3 had it's moments of enjoyment, but it also (iirc) introduced the mentally difficult to kill animals! Which took the wee wee a bit too much for me. Base invasions also became a bit mundane, and the heavies started to distract a bit too much for me. FC4.... I hated the setting, and it felt more like an add on for FC3.

Now onto FC5 - it just feels very lifeless, and plays like an attack of the clones game to me. The same looking enemies rock up in the same looking vehicles, and the AI does pretty much the same thing. Mentally powerful (though not AS BAD) animals still roam freely, and take you out, and the guns feel too samey and limited (as in, there should be more).

For me, FC5 has been mostly disappointing - it looks great, beautiful in parts, but the gameplay is far too rinse and repeat. The gun battles aren't exciting (to me), the progression of kit and character seem very muted, pointless even.

I really ought to put in more time, but I don't feel at all like going back to it - there's too much enjoyment to be had elsewhere, and not enough time - certainly at this time of the year when sun and the outdoor is calling.

For me, in the few hours I have spent on FC5, I'd be rating it a 6/10 - I am hopeful that figure will rise as I put more hours in.

The forced capture and showdowns are annoying but I enjoy roaming around doing my own thing. Some of the big fights can be challenging, as I am not especially good with pads compared to kb+m but I do turn off any aim assist in games as it annoys the hell out of me. Oddly I find animals fairly easily to deal with unless I am caught completely unaware or on low health.

I haven't tried Mars yet (quite enjoyed Vietnam) but I played the main story last night for the first time since the latest update and found the game freezes for a few seconds what must be every 55 to 60 seconds and it got very frustrating. Tried a couple of other games to make sure it wasn't my PS4 but they were okay.

It hasn't lived up to the experience of 3 or 4 on the whole (and let's face it, there isn't a massive amount of difference in play between any of the three apart from story).

Some interesting comments here. I was going to get FC5 in the sale but in my head I was thinking - hmmm I have done 3 & 4 and some of Primal, it's just going to be more of the same in different locations, will I get bored?

My answer was probably. Perhaps that's what you guys cant put your finger on? Boredom from same old same old?

Started playing this the other night with my mate on co-op. Good fun so far, the AI is disappointingly dumb though. I think we might tire of how hectic the game is too, at first it's entertaining having so much happen so often (enemies drive up, animals attack etc) but it feels like you don't get a moment's peace.

Also very annoyed that, unlike Ghost Recon Wildlands, the second co-op player seemingly can't select missions, activate certain items etc. It means I keep having to stand next to something while my mate presses the button or reads the item to unlock a location.

The randomness gets tiring very quickly.

I can only play an hour or so before I feel stressed out, too much in your face enemies and what not.

I agree about the weapon variety too, they all fee the same no matter what “skin” you use there’s no variety in the weapons.

I also had a mission fail because the chopper I was supposed to retrieve just blew up randomly as the enemy landed it...FFS

For me - boredom, and the same old same old, but mostly boredom.

I'd buy it again given the chance, I really enjoyed the main game, the DLC not so much.

I've played every FC all the way through so far, I didn't get bored of the mechanics.

Haha... I had the same problem however it was during takeoff at the end of a mission, where you have to hold enemies off across a bridge. It just seemed to pause before takeoff for a ridiculously long amount of time then just blew up, I guess the game got bored of waiting :p

how would I find this game? I am new to the PS4.

Just finished uncharted 4 and now started playing Farcry 4, slowly getting into it. although seems like a lot of walking around deheading plants and ripping down posters, but i have only just started. Find it a bit hard to actually know what i am doing

The walking stutter bug is almost game destroying for me. So horrid!

I agree that it gets a bit stale. Shame really as it looks good. I think it's trying to be Far Cry "Just Cause 3" edition, instead of doing anything unique.

Finally got around to this again, after playing through just John's region at release. Started fresh and man, I have to say, this is a phenomenal game. Truly, does anyone do world building & open world better than Ubisoft, or even close to it? What a ride! The gunplay is fun, the world is superb, the characters are written well enough to enjoy the show, the story missions aren't too bad, and it looks & performs great! I think the key to enjoying these games is liking being in the world, and Ubi makes it easy through the world it's created. I get the criticism of repetitiveness but at the end of the day, all gameplay is repetitive - that's the nature of games in general, both virtual and not.

I was a bit peeved by the forced interruptions like everyone else but I stopped minding them. If there's a criticism to them I'd say is that for John & Jacob's regions it feels a bit samey and it doesn't make as much narrative sense. Certainly, Jacob's Story Missions were mostly boring and his arc felt like it had the least amount of character & therefore was the least interesting, but it works alright as a middle section. If we look at it as John - beginning, it is strong. Then Jacob (middle act) is a bit more padding, and finally we get to Faith's (the ending, with Joseph's) which is simply superb. I enjoyed that one the most out of all.

Could they have done better & more? Sure, perhaps given another 3 years of development, for more complex systems and interactions, but I can't say it's needed. This was one of the few games where I simply had no big grievance with it. And it's a big step up from Far Cry 3 for, which I liked at the start but just couldn't be bothered playing it through, because this one actually kept me wanting to play & finish it (100%). It's a lot of little things coming together which solidified it into a fantastic game.

Can't wait for 6!

I only got that stutter issue on my very first time playing. I agree the game got boring quickly.

I loved FC 4 then I bought 5 and was not that impressed with the normal mode, ended up playing arcade mode more times. Then PS+ bought out COD MW and i Have been hooked on that for the last month

Late to the party but i picked this up for a tenner recently. Haven't played a Far Cry game since the original on the pc about 15 years ago!

I'm enjoying it for the most part, although seemed to have hit a bug where i'm in John Seeds bunker and one guy is just bullet proof. Doesn't matter what gun or explosive i used, he just didn't die, so got annoyed and turned it off for the night.

Also agree it's quite samey. Go here, shoot people, now go there, shoot some people. But the story seems interesting enough.

Would pick up FC6 on release based on it so
