On the subject of Farage I'd say that people who have done less to represent the people that support them have received accolades through the ages, why not Farage?

He's campaigned tirelessly for this result for many years where no one else would and it's a result that's favoured by a majority of the population. He deserves some credit for his work.

Nah it was all Boris. He led the campaign, surely it should be Sir Boris??? :D

Sir Boris who clearly didn't expect to win and had to scrabble at the last minute to put a leadership bid together and failed because someone couldn't hand deliver a scrap of paper? That Boris? Good a candidate as any I suppose :D.

I don't think the referendum would have happened if UKIP hadn't been taking vote share year on year and the 2 con MPs hadn't defected in the year before the GE

I never said border control was racist just that a lot of people who argue for it in the UK are.

Or the tory government the leave movement has legitimised will continue to erode workers rights, boost the pay of the rich and take a massive poo on the poor? The rich have always found a way to keep the working class working class and today they are using immigration to deflect people from the real problems of corporate greed and executive pay!

The point is though it does not matter what government is in power, while we remain part of the European Union we are forced to adhere to the free movement of people.

Thus any government is powerless to control the supply of cheap labour.

Do you think our current immigration system is racist?

Just imagine if it was the other way round and we currently had a system that treated everyone, no matter where you were born equally.

Then imagine people were trying to impose a system that gave preferential treatment to people born in the EU and set strict restrictions on people outside.

Would you not be calling these people racist?

Because he constantly lied to the public in order to get the result he wanted? Granted other politicians have been rewarded for doing the same but it would be a refreshing change that maybe just this once don't reward the lying scumbag politician. This isn't solely against Farage I have similar feelings for both sides of the recent campaign.

Really?

I don't think it is. You can argue it was favoured by the majority of the voting populace which voted but that percentage seems to be ever dropping as more light gets shed on the possible outcomes of leaving.

If they chose not to use their voice then they shouldn't be surprised when no one can hear them.

Not this again, it's like Dave.

What?

I think its fair to say that 17 million people is not the majority of the populace which is 65+ million.

If they chose not to use their voice then they shouldn't be surprised when no one can hear them.

Not arguing that it was an unfair referendum in a sense that some people didnt vote. Just that saying the majority of the population wanted an out vote misrepresents the general attitude of the population

Did you vote tory? Do they have a majority government? Is that because a majority voted for them? Is 24% a majority? Should we have a redo on the general election because 76% of people either didn't get what they wanted or didn't bother to vote?

By this logic we should have never joined as only 31% of the population voted to join in 1975.

Lol

I am against another referendum, i am not saying the vote should be overturned and i am not saying that it is unfair.

All i am saying is that stating the majority of the population wants something when it is not a majority, is a misrepresentation of the population.

If you had said voting populace, then it would have been correct.

By this logic we should have never joined as only 31% of the population voted to join in 1975.

I am not saying that it doesn't count, i am just saying the use of the word majority was wrong in that statement.
