Farming Simulator 17

It combines our natural instinct of growing and gathering food along with managment, powerful machines and getting rich. A simple but effective recipe helped along with a huge modding community. :)

There's already a money mod for the PC version.

Alternatively the .xml files for the save games are still in plain text if you'd prefer to manually edit it.

Spot on, I like to have a few saves on the go so will usually have one with millions in the bank if I just want to try things out.

Release info from Giants

I'm back with an update on the downloads front:

a) We're preparing for tonight's influx of amazing farmers and just put the Digital Collector's Edition Upgrade pack live. You can save some MB of download by downloading it now instead of later together with the game - or you can watch the "Making of" documentary while waiting. Please note that the bonus tractors in the pack will only work with the actual game later. *https://www.farming-simulator.com/dlc-detail.php?dlc_id=fs17ce

b) We are also working on making those happy who took a day off tomorrow to play the game as early as possible. This counts for downloading the game via our website and/or Steam. Hopefully your mail delivery truck will not get stuck in traffic either but there isn't much we can do.

c) Have fun!

The release on Steam is planned to be around midnight GMT, however, since so many parties are involved, we can't give any guarantees or an exact time yet.

The bonus vehicles from the Digital Collectors Edition are exes that you need to run after the game was installed through Steam.

Quite fancy the collectors edition, just wish it came with a Steam version of the game!

As Mike posted above there is a Digital Collections Upgrade, so if it contains what you want then it's worth the €8, and it's completely separate to the game, so you can use it with the Steam version.

I watched the full Making Of video earlier and despite it only having English subtitles for the vast majority of it it was still a good watch and quite enlightening (there's a preview on the first page).

The Modding Tutorials, if you're interested in making mods or maps, are good and are in spoken English, but not too different to the 2015 ones which are freely available.

The Modding PDF is exactly the same as the freely available 2015 one.

Giants download has started

Extra bonus as well. :)

Challenger MT700E Field Viper (GIANTS Direct Order Bonus)

Challenger MT800E Field Python (GIANTS Direct Order Bonus)

Challenger MT900E Field Anaconda (GIANTS Direct Order Bonus)

Massey Ferguson 8737 Black Duals (GIANTS Direct Order Bonus)

Valtra T Series COW Edition (GIANTS Direct Order Bonus)

Had a play around.

Graphics settings are better than before, the draw distance sliders are great. However could do with more than 200.

Maxed all graphics and not even stressing my card so that is good.

One thing I can't work out is Vsync. Switched it off in game and does not seem to have any effect. So I am wondering if the game is capped at 60fps...

Edit: I need to remove frame rate cap via console. Will try that later today...

All the "lets play" videos I have seen thus far, this looks the same as 2015, just with some polish?

Pure Farming 17 has my interest owing to Giants laziness.

Hadn't heard of this but it looks quite interesting from the video teaser I've just watched. I've downloaded FS17 ready to play later and will see what it's like. Always the steam refund policy within x hours if it's awful.

OK messing around with the game XML, you can set the global draw distance via the variables. Set mine from 2.0 (which is the highest setting in options to 4.0 and pretty much renders the map. No hit on frame rate for me....

However still cant activate the console.

From what I have experienced the game is pretty much like 15 but with Mods now Incorporated into the game play.

Wait until it gets a bit dark. ;)

That is beautiful. Done any bailing yet? I'm watching Daggerwin with the telehandler and it looks like a right chore! I know I'd struggle..

I've just recorded a quick demo of the lights at night for anyone who's not seen them yet.

Excuse the terrible driving - it's my first time using front-loader in FS17 and I think they've swapped the mouse axis back to the way they were in FS13, so I'm a bit all over the place!

I've not done any yet, as I just started last night and I'm still harvesting and doing a bit of contracting (missions).

Baling (particularly stackign) is always a pain in FS, but it's getting better. I'm a video behind Daggerwin (I tend to have videos on on my second monitor while I'm playing FS) so I've not seen any bale handling yet.

Still, at least we can now strap them to bale trailers so that they stay in place.

That

It is like they have listened to what people have said but also what poeople have downloaded as mods.

Oh and you can play basket ball by the bakery.... :)

Which is exactly what you would expect - people enjoyed 2015, and it sold well (better than expected on Consoles), so all they have done is provide a better out-of-the-box experience (even if essentially it is just bringing a lot of mods "in-house").

Haven't played it yet as still at work, but will feedback on the PS4 version later.

Had a quick play about with this last night. I like the missions so far and feel like this is a lot more polished than FS15. Hoping they don't overdo the DLC.

Played a few hours on this over the last couple of nights on PS4, and can't fault it, it is more or less just a really polished version of '15.

Things I've noticed so far that I like:
- missions are vastly improved, although seems "too easy", to make money in the beginning.
- forestry has been improved - seems a lot less "fussy" in regards to actual positioning to cut trees down with the chainsaw, and a lot easier/quicker to clean up the trunk, removing all the excess branches.
- Mod support has potential, although on consoles doesn't look like they will get some of the more interesting/complicated mods as scripts aren't supported. New maps and machinery is always welcome though :)

Minor Issues I have noticed:
- Controls have changed slightly (not by much, and the onscreen help is fine), but a minor issue.
- Severe frame rate issue on a couple of missions (Field 5 - fertilising mission), frame rate dropped to probably 10fps.
- Noticed an exploit re: Cruise control, that can allow you to complete missions faster (and get a bigger time bonus)
