Fastest speed

Passenger: 100mph (Nissan Micra 1.0L :p)

 A frind of mines Micra has buckets of body roll at about 75-80. 100 must be quite scary.

Fastest I've driven - 70mph ;)
Fastest as a passenger - 140mph (indicated).

I recall you almost crying at me for posting that I was in a car going 155mph yet you have been just as fast, it would be highly hypocritcal of you.

Well if you remember yours was peak morning traffic if i remember correctly and everyone had a go not just me ^^ .

In the xsara it was on the M1 between J4 and J7 at 3am .
On the bike it was on Barton cutting around midnight.

ive had an indiacated 140 out of mine, but for some reason my car underreads the higher speed it gets, according to GPS! :o So dunno what the hell actual speed i was doing
Passenger - 140 in a BMW 530! This was on the A470, NOT the best of places to be doing these speeds.. Best part? It was in a TAXI coming back from Cardiff after a night out lol!

Rubbish and you know it. I'm not just calling you a hypocrite because the motors has a fair share of them. You obviously don't remember correctly because it was very early morning travelling to bradford, how can you even travel at those speeds at peak traffic? :p

edit: actually, I can remember the argument some people had was 'omg imagine what would happen in a blow out rah rah rah', think it was a couple of the rover lads one of whom had a bad accident due to a blowout. Fair enough, but you aren't seeing the same in this thread, with people doing silly speeds in questionable cars, at least ours was designed for high performance etc.

Well im sure Gurdas it was at a time that was unsafe to do 155mph .

Also were you not racing someone as well? The fact remains you got flamed for 5 + pages if i remember (or yer dad did )
There is nothing wrong with speeding ... Its where and how you speed thats unsafe :)

Car:

144MPH, Speedo was reading 149MPH, my mate with his pocket PC/MP3/GPS/Bellydancing pocket PC thing gave me that speed. :o

Truck:
Off the clock, so well over 80MPH, whilst going down a hill on an (empty) motorway, I'd let the truck run away from me, literally. Not too fast you might say? Way too fast with a 30ton trailer & load behind you!

I was trying out the car, approx 4AM on a section where I knew there was no exits or entry points, I was back to roughly half the cars speed before I was likely to encounter another motorist.

I certainly was'nt trying to go fast in the truck, as I say, I'd let the speed creep up whilst not paying attention to my speedo, and I had started to drop down a hill near a large estuary in the Bristol area (bet a few peeps can guess where that is!) I elected to gently brake and hope for the best, despite my gentle braking, my speed continued to rise and the needle went round to the point where it physically could go no further.

Not big, nor clever I freely admit. :o :o

Passenger, not as fast in a straight line, very much quicker than I could ever drive around twisty back roads, I have an ex-racing driver mate who made my old e36 318i feel like the fastest thing on 4 wheels, alas, only when he drove it.

Not so much what your driving, its how its being driven. ;)

obv can't give a driven speed, but have been in a 300zx doing 185 indicated so probably 170 ish, it was boring.
On an empty 3 lane motorway pretty much any speed is boring. Anywhere that has any form of traffic and that all changes dramatically. If you've ever driven at double the speed limit on an M road you will know just how quicly you come across things.

If anyone can drive at 175mph on a normal motorway and find it boring then they shouldn't have a license because they don't have the brainpower to use it. As for passengers, obviously that's another story.

(Not specifically aimed at you Clarkey, before you take offence)

Driver: 70mph (Corsa 1.0 Club + My new Corsa 1.2 SXi) :o

Can you honestly say that you have never broken the speed limit as a driver? Seeing as "normal" motorway crusing speed is between 80-100 i find that hard to swallow

70mph in a corsa would feel terribly unsafe and fast though.

I did my Test in a Suzuki Ignes and as soon as i reached 62mph i felt like the car was going to fall over

I dont know what a corsa is over there, but here the newer ones are good for cruising at ~100 and a bit without any real bother at all, i did 400 miles today in a corsa van at "above average" speeds and it was fine.

70 max ever speed takes some doing :p

Corsas are the same thing :)
They are just called "Holden Barinas"

The Suzuki ignis i drove at 100kph was scary

my dads micra was fine for 90. Then my sisters (now my dads as his got stolen  ) was only good for about 60, untill we relised it had a unleaded engine init.......lol 85 we got it too after that.

body roll isnt really a problem if you are going straight on.......

no it wouldnt, cars have to be designed to feel perfectly safe at *at least* 70

my 206 is very similar i would imagine and that feels perfectly stable at 80 (perfect cruising speed for it imo), about about 90 it feels lairy but 70 being OH MY GOD ITS GOING TO ROLL AND DIE is just silly

it could sit at 100 all day long if you're happy with the drone of a constant ~4.7k RPM and theres no huge sidewinds
