Fastest you've been on a public road.

165MPH on my Honda SP1. We went for a ride at 6am and found this lovely long straight, we were there for about 20mins and never saw a single car, infact on the whole ride of over 80miles we only had to overtake 1 car! twas awesome.

Hi there

Just under 160mph close to the limiter in 4th gear (Mustang) and passenger in 3000GT on airfield hitting 183mph on GPS in 6th.

I think my highest speed is around 120-125 indicated, on motorways and dual carriageways - nothing special. I haven't driven that fast since I got a speeding ticket in 1998 - in fact I haven't gone much over 90 indicated since then.

Slight twist to the OP, what speeds have you reached on normal residential(ish) 30mph roads.

I'm not going first... cos its big and not very clever

Nope, was on the M3 or A34. Road works ment it was down to a single lane and with me being the first car to enter it I didnt want to annoy everyone and do 10mph.

About 60-70 - not on ultra residential roads with parked cars and pedestrians though.

130 in my diesel astra and at least 120 in my rover mini on the limiter in 4th with two cars behind to verifiy.

35-40 probably. You're right, not big and not clever.

On residential roads? probably about 35 or 40 if I'm honest and yes I know that's silly and it's not something I do often - I'm usually actually under the limit.

On main through routes which just happen to be a 30 limit but have few or no side turnings and whatever.... depends on the road in question but I know a few roads like that which I treat as NSL.
