- do you need to take them out when say you have a shower?

i keep mine in all the time, except to clean them and my ear, and cover both in tea tree oil - but i know people who take theirs out to shower/sleep

- do you use anything special to keep them in place?

Penski remember my sisters quest for plugs? Well she has them both at 8mm now! She also sneakily without my mum knowing got her tragus and cartilige pierced! She wants something else now, although I told her to slow down after all she is only 13! Damn scene punk/emo kids!
 
My ears wont go much above 15mm but i kind of like them where they are at 11mm.

I suppose it does when you first move onto a larger diameter piece?
 
Can you get plugs that do stuff like teeny tiny fans or plugs that you can put stuff in like those cufflinks that you can put asprin in / look like mini spirit levels?
That would be cool. I would use mine to hold pens and hook my key to or something useful like that :D

top one hurts a lot - even now sometimes when it gets knocked - but thats 'cuz its in the cartilage
it gets easier to stretch them as they get bigger though. 0 to 4mm hurt loads, but after that it was fine, 6 to 8 and 8 to 10 were easy peasy.

and next time i see *you* in the golden - i will be aiming to wear clothes that you don't recognise, damn you! i've only worn that 2 times - you were just lucky enough to see both
(grrr to those nasty girls at the bar though)

mat, i have plugs that look like little wind turbines - they're just too small now :(

phanton, mine look odd in the hospital - lol :)
 
Im sure someone could fit a small bluetooth receiver in one and attach a small in-the-ear headphone to it... the possibilities are endless!

I had 15mm lobes and mine are more or less completely closed.
Granted, it isn't invisible but its certainly shrunk down to maybe 1 or 2mm which is pretty boring :p

It's ironic you saying that because I feel people who abuse their bodies like you do must be trying to compensate for something too.
