This country is far too fat. If this tax helps to increase the health of the nation then I'm all for it.
I dont get it though you cant tell me people dont know whats healty and whats not?.
Ok some may not but lets be honest here most do so educate what? what people all ready know.
people dont eat the stuff because they dont know its bad for them they eat it becuase they want to and can.
You seen the adverts on smoking some are rather nasty but I dont know one person that has qiut due to them not one and all my mates smoke (ok I only have one mate) but still he aint quit![]()
The trouble you have is that healthy foods are stuipdly expensive to start with and not "convenient" Can you get healthy fast food?
I wish I could.NoI wish I could.
The best I can do ATM, is roast chicken or nuts (generally nuts in the cooking isle so they aren't covered in crap. But even that doesn't make it interesting and I don't really want to be eating mass produced chicken. But it's the best I can do without planning.

Grow ya own chickens![]()
Easily, but as above it doesn't solve the problem of eating when out. As well asim not at home all the time. How can he feed them though and listen to the little chuck chuck and then chop thier heads off ><
.
I get decent quality chickens. It's just when at work or traveling. You have no choice basically. Unless you plan ahead and even then isn't always doable. I spend one week in three away from home. I have no choice but to eat crap I don't want to.
Education is fine, but to educate in a meaningful way they need to know what to educate. I don't think governments or industries are there ATM. They keep ignoring reserch.
At the moment, I would only want them to educate in extremely general terms. Processed bad, natural good, reduce calories, avoid sugars etc.
If you are going to do that then its only fair you do it for smoking, drinking, drug taking related illnesses, hell why not take a leaf out of Americas book where only the rich can afford healthcare and it costs thousands for simple treatments.I agree, and tbh I don't education alone would be enough by a long way. But generalities "natural good, reduce calories, avoid sugars etc." need to be the way, even those few things are fairly good advice if you are doing nothing to begin with.
If something isn't done the NHS will collapse under the weight of patients (excuse the pun). It's not just treating the illness, diabetes, heart disease, liver disease, etc. It's treating obese patient patients which can't be done by a single nurse. If you get someone who is 30+ Stone, it take 2-4 nurses to move them (if they can) special equipment, even beds and chairs are often too small.
People have to take resposibility for their own health, if they won't. Then you tell them there will be consiquences, they may have to pay for treatment, not be treated, the obvious one is that they'll die early. But not many listen to that one.
You have to start by educating people and changing attitudes. I've worked at the local hospital and it is now becoming the the norm for relatives to bring in "extra" meals because the patients to be frank eat like animals. Sneaking in Pizza and chips, pasties you name it. The excuse is because they don't like hospital food, or there isn't enough, it's just scary.
The meals are absolutely fine, not Cordon Bleu, but completely acceptable and varied. Not every meal is chips, pizza or curry like they get at home.
I drink fizzy drinks I eat unhealthy food (sometimes) and I'm not fat.
What people don't seem to realize is that you can eat unhealthy but you have to exercise to compensate (which I what I do.)
If you are going to do that then its only fair you do it for smoking, drinking, drug taking related illnesses, hell why not take a leaf out of Americas book where only the rich can afford healthcare and it costs thousands for simple treatments.
