The's a little café a 5 minute walk from me, they do the most amazing vanilla ice cream and their rasperry sauce is amazing, probalby the only time I do eat ice cream

Haagen Daz strawberry cheesecake omnomnomnomnomnom :D

Shame Haagen Daz are so expensive, I only buy them when on sale.

they were on sale at Asda or Tesco at least upto Monday, £2 for a taste of ambrosia;) not sure if they still are.
@PlacidCasual, i take it you need an ice cream machine to make that, and also it would work with other suitable fruit

An ice cream maker helps enormously, its a real chore without one, they are not expensive however.
I have this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Magimix-Gla...r_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1309467197&sr=1-2

I also have a bain marie saucepan which is helpful to avoid curdling the custard when making the ice cream. It's also great for holladaise sauce during asparagus season.

Yes it should work with other fruit, I'm planning lavender ice cream next using lavender essence from a local lavender farm. Vanilla using good essence or pods is a revelation over anything you can buy. Cherries are in season for pick your own and I would imagine they'd make a good syrup too cooked and blitzed, raspberries are a no brainer but fruit aside simple ice cream recipes using natural ingredients are just so much richer than their bought equivalents.

oooh, make my own ice cream or frozen yogurt!!! I want to do the latter more actually.

I think I am going to order one, as the only frozen yogurt i can find in the supermarket is Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia and it's £4 a tub (got one today in fact), problem is I can't find any other flavour!!!!

This way, I can make all kinds of ice cream...I can even make fresh espresso and put it in to make coffee frozen yogurt, or Mint (have some mint syrup).

Hmmmmmmm!

This is Godlike. I have to restrain myself from buying it too often because, other than the price, it is just ridiculously good and I end up eating too much.

Have to agree, its £2 a tub at Asda at the moment so just bought 3.
