Favourite Jailbroken Applications

does anyone notice any slowdown with winterboard ?
pondering on a theme but im not wanting any slow down

Yep, I had it installed for a few days but the slowdown was noticeable. So I got rid of it and now it's back to lightning quick again. Not really much fussed about using themes etc anyway but I fancied a dabble. Won't be using it again anytime soon methinks. ;)

Its really simple guys.
Open an app and then press and hold home button till you get the message that the app has been backgrounded. The app will then close. You can reopen the app by either clicking on the icon on springboard or Circuitous.
If you want to close that app you have two choices. Either close it in circuitous dock or when the app is opened press and hold home button till it says that backgrounder has been disabled.

Easy peasy!

Right, will give that a go.

oli356, will check out proswitch HD.

Seen some real nice ipad screenshots at xsellize and folks using an app called iconoclasm to customise icon locations.

People wouldn't pay for it without a reason to own it. If people had genuine use for it, like myself, then I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.

There is no reason to call people stupid. Don't be so ignorant to other peoples potential circumstances, the $10 was well spent to get rid of the pain of having to sync my iPhone up sometimes multiple times a day or not being able to sync it up, because I have to connect it to my computer.

It is step Apple should be welcoming or should introduce other wireless features to get rid of the need.

You still have to be near a computer to press "sync" in iTunes, right?
So why not just plug it in?

"...to get rid of the pain of having to sync my iPhone up sometimes multiple times a day..."

How does wifi-sync help you with that when all wifi-sync does is sync? You'd still be syncing......
You'd bought an app to get rid of the pain of syncing but all the app does is sync......

No, you don't have to press sync on iTunes. You just open up the App and if your computer is on it automatically syncs.

The problem I have, is my computer usage and where I charge my phone makes it difficult to pull the lead out from where I have it plugged in to the wall for the dock. The only other way to fix this, is to buy another lead - something Apple charge £15.00 for (opposed to £6.45 for WiFi Sync, which would have been much cheaper if Apple accepted it).

You don't know the circumstances around people's iPhone and computer usage, so don't your scenarios match up with convenience to others.

Best thing about jailbreaking for me so far is 3G FaceTime calls. It's fantastic, even though i do look like a bit of a nutter walking done the street holding my phone out at arms length!

You can get a USB extension cable for £2 from ******s and even cheaper on line.

Oh, I don't think you know this but WiFi-Sync modifies files in itunes for the sync to take place over wifi and as people have been finding out - those modifications have made it impossible for them to restore they iDevices.

You might want to read up on that.

Tried out a device recorder app earlier after stupidly paying for it.. $5... its alright.. but i tried it with a racing game and well it skips in the video so =/

Haven't tried it yet for just various browsing. Also you can only have it recording at one rotation, so if you rotate it then you have to turn your head while watching the video. You can upload to youtube from the app. I'll have a demo up tomorrow

Final result @ 3:38.. wonder how much memory that uses lol

WiFi Sync

Is the most over-hyped app in the j/b scene!
Totally pointless and im glad Apple said No.
The people that are paying for this are stupid and very very lazy!

Cant believe thats the only reason you j/b your phone. Speechless!

Erm, you do know it's actually useful to be able to tether your phone using WiFi right?

Nothing to be speechless about what so ever, and yes, I will j/b my phone to add WiFi tethering!!

Whats wifi-tethering got to do with wifi sync?
If you want to tether your phone connection to another device then there an app called MyWi which does that. Not sure what WiFI-Sync has to do with tethering.....

Oh sorry, It was late at night :p

Although if it works i'd use that too, then I wouldn't have to ever bother plugging it in to my Mac.

Right, i've had a look through the thread and can't see anything, but has anybody tried out "panorama" which displays, panoramic wallpaper on springboard? is it any good?

edit: downloaded it but dont have a clue how to use it...

never mind, got it working (had bosspaper running) but it seems laggy so uninstalled it.

Is there any other app that does the job?

it is neccessary for me to back up my shsh blobs with cydia? it says there are no issues downgrading iphone 3g.

I have a 3g and am suffering some serious performance issues at the mo, running 3.1.3. thinking im gonna have to restore at some point but dont want my phone wrecked by the slowness that is os4.x. do i need to back up or am i ok. if I do need to back up is doing it through cydia the way forward?

I don't need an extension cable, I need another cable, as I've already said. An extension cable won't solve anything.

The issue is an easy fix.
