Would be torn between FFVII and FFVIII, VII has the better story, but VIII is a more polished game IMO. Can't really look beyond those two tbh.

Real RPG = Baldur's Gate II without a doubt, DA: Origins is looking mighty fine for PC though.
Western RPG = Elder Scrolls III or Mass Effect. MEII will probably pinch this.
JRPG = Chrono-Trigger

Not played many Oblivion was really my first, and I have to say I did love it... Have tried several JRPGS since then, but the style of those games just irritates me - especially the music! Oh, and find the "combat" rubbish.

My favourite RPG so far though would have to be Mass Effect, even if I haven't spent near as long with that as I did with Oblivion.

Another vote for FF7. Me and two other mates bought PS1's just to play it, on the recommendation of a workmate. I didn't even know what a JRPG was until then.

Either your numbering is all wrong, or you're in this thread for the chicks. FFIII came out on the NES. FFIV was never released as FFIV in English until the PS1 remake.

Either you mean FFII & FFIII for the SNES (to be pedantic), or you mean FFIII for the Famicom and FFIV for the Super Famicom, or, as I initially hinted, you're in this thread for the chicks

Oh, and as for my favourite RPG, it's Final Fantasy. The series. I can't pick one.

Fallout 3 would probably pip the others as that's the only one I've completed multiple times and I'm on my 3rd playthrough now.

Captive/Liberation (again, old game)
Oblivion (loved this game, so many hours went into it)
Fallout3 (Just keeps dragging me back to explore new places)

'Tried' to enjoy Mass Effect, I do like it, but just found something about it that little but too much effort.

Well, I thought no one would notice

, since I only re-play those now on emulators, so I get confused myself.
Not sure why I added those though, my favourite Final Fantasy was actually 6.
