FIA to reduce a cars turbo as a penalty in '14?

Its cumulative points. Drivers could quite easily rack up 11 points in a season through just a few minor things. The blue flags one will be common for the back markers. Pit releases are also common and not the drivers fault.

But then when your riding on 11 points anything that you do gets you a race ban, even such a little thing as being late to a driver briefing. Is that fair?

Probably not, tough really. With all these pay drivers on circuit something needs to be done to ensure driving standards are up to scratch so if following blue flags is really an issue for the teams at the back then they better start learning to pay attention to them.

I am hoping infractions 2 and 5 means pit lane speed limit, otherwise it seems the FIA might limit the cars to a top speed rather than RPM :D

I got bored, so counted up Pastors penalties from last year using the points.

Had the system been in place he would have earn enough points after Hungary to get a race ban.

He then went on to earn another 7 points, plus the 5 he would have got for the race ban making another 12 by the final race in Brazil. I assume that means he would have been banned for the first race in 2013.

Its slightly skewed though, as the ban he would have got after Hungary would have meant he missed Belgium, and it was in the Belgium race that he went on to collect 5 of the further 7 he got that year.

But as a total, he got 24 points over the season.

Also did Schumachers.

He would have earnt 14 points by the end of the Belgium GP meaning he missed Italy.

He then went on to earn another 6 on top of the 5 for the race ban by India, meaning he got another race ban for Abu Dhabi.

He then picked up 1 more at Brazil. So at the end of the year he had 31 points.

And thats just the top 2 people in the list of penalties. I can't be bothered to do the rest.

So yeah, The points system last year would have seen Pastor banned for 1 race, plus the opening race of 2013, and Schumacher banned for 2 races.

Still think its a good idea?

Which one, Schumacher or Maldonado? And what about all the points they would have still got even if you don't include the collisions? Driving like Miss Daisy because your scared of getting points won't stop your team releasing you unsafely in the pits.

And it's not like they were driving round crashing into people without a care, all the incidents that would have earnt them penalty points carried their own punishments anyway. Grosjeans crash got him a race ban as punishment, so all the drivers knew driving like a tit could carry that penalty even without the penalty point system.

I expect if you worked them all out quite a few drivers would have got at least 1 race ban.

Just worked it out.

Maldonado would have got 2 race bans, but one in the following season?
Schumacher would have got 2 race bans
Perez would have got 1 race ban

Nobody else earn't enough to get a race ban. Even Grosjean avoided it with a total of 10, including the 5 for getting a race ban as a penalty for the crash in Spa.
