FIA WEC 2017 Championship

I really wanted the LMP2 to win.

Porsche and Toyota will still get the WEC points, but loved the idea of a lower class car taking the top step on the podium.

Still got two LMP 2's on the podium, that is first time in history of this event.

And with only half an hour to go still do close you can't tell who will be class winner in most classes

Even with the LMP1 car winning it's not a particularly good advertisement for the class that the 10 second a lap slower LMP2 cars finished only a couple of laps behind.

Winning LMP1H spent an hour in the garage, so only actually completed 23 hours of the race. ;)

It's an endurance race though.
Outright speed is not the most important thing, as Toyota have proved conclusively.

As someone once said,

To finish first, first you have to finish.

Hare and tortoise come to mind

Exactly but the whole point of Le Man's 24 is it's a test of reliability. LMP1 finishing only a few laps in front and not running for full 24 hours isn't a good advertisement. It's like the tortoise and the hare.

Great final few laps with the GTE-P, just when you thought it was all over...

What a result for Jackie Chan racing!

Absolutely terrible coverage though, the race director needs shooting, how many times did it cut to something else when there was some close racing? Also the Eurosport presenters forever talking over team radio...

Good race all in but I do worry for the immediate future of Lmp1, feels like some drastic rethinking is needed as a two manufacturer competition isn't interesting imo

GT and lmp2 great tho
