Fidelity Super Resolution in 2021

FSR, now lets get back to it.

The Medium, 4K max

Good example. In game we find DLSS maintains stable detail, while other options produce the constant pop in/out known as shimmer.

What a load of rubbish post this is.

Stop with this DLSS is perfect and doesn't show any negative image quality.

Both DLSS and FSR have pros and cons

DLSS isn't perfect

Watch this video and see for yourself metro and any fast moving scenes show the issue DLSS struggles with and tip from this video updating the file for DLSS isn't always the best thing to do either.

One thing I will 100% say is these both shouldn't be talked about with screenshots.

Another point I would like to make is that FSR actually removes the shimmering if you using it on a 4k display and Ultra setting on godfall tested myself.

Just like DLSS if you give the game a high display resolution and use a higher setting the final image will be very close to native.

Not only DLSS is not perfect, it just follows the legacy Nvidia image quality pattern of washed out colours and reduced sharpness.
It does fix somehow the so called "shimmer" (missing parts of the images) but that is not enough.

At no point did I say DLSS was perfect.
I use a 3080.
I use DLSS Quality at 1440p when available.
I use a 32" panel, I can see what DLSS is doing.
I understand how DLSS works.
I'm not afraid of using new tech.
I don't give a damn whether or not someone else can use said tech.

AMD themselves said they are not looking to compete with DLSS, while Intel have said the opposite and are developing their own XeSS. At this point in time XeSS is using the same techniques as DLSS.

Stop clinging to/defending legacy/console techniques.

If you want to see bad colors, play any game on an Xbox series x

Why are you even in this thread then?

Next generation 2020 consoles for the next 10 years and its legacy?

Why are you even in this thread then?

This is a thread that discusses/critiques FSR, while also comparing FSR to DLSS. Have a look back if need be.

Next generation 2020 consoles for the next 10 years and its legacy?

I can't remember consoles leading in any tech. There will also be a very noticeable gap, if leaks are to be believed, between next gen RDNA3/Lovelace and current gen consoles. They maybe supported for the next 10 years, but they certainly won't be leading development.

Wrong it's a thread to discuss FSR only can you not read the title? Does the title mention anything to do with DLSS?

It's users like yourself that come in here to derail the thread with rubbish posts.

So let's end this here.

Err, one can expect anything from Microsoft, Nvidia and Intel :D Not good things, though.

I can't remember consoles leading in any tech.

You must read more.
The consoles lead:
- ultra high speed to stream assets directly from the SSD PlayStation 5 SSD speeds hit 9GB/sec with custom 12-channel controller | TweakTown
- Nanite - virtualised geometry;
- Lumen - fully dynamic global illumination;

A first look at Unreal Engine 5 - Unreal Engine

They have never been used on a PC which is the point that you don't understand :D

They were all developed within the PC environment.

Streaming from PCIe has been available since it's inception. SCSI support for full command queuing with DMA transfers goes back decades. There is nothing new here. I recently read that Microsoft's Direct Storage API will support PCIe Gen 3, which dates back to 2010.

UE5's technologies are developed on PC. They were demo'd on console to showcase console potential.

The only reason you see titles make use of such techniques on console first is that the every PS5 is same as every other PS5.

Yet nobody cared till the consoles came along and started using them.
I can smell the desperation from here. pathetic
