Fidelity Super Resolution in 2021

Hmm Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 says otherwise. Crytek isn't exactly a great dev when it comes to their single player effort.

It is not about the story. But about photo-realistic graphics and realistic environment.
All games till today are more like animations or ugly fakes of the real environment. We need real physics.

Depends a bit on the de-duplicating process involved - when I read about it awhile back it seemed more like an automated process taken away from the game developer - the new material seems to suggest it is something the developer has more control over.

Duplicated data isn't always about reducing time spent seeking data on the HDD sometimes it is used for instance so as to stage the game for a later expansion or content update where some of the duplicates will be swapped out later - but if the developer has some control over that then it is a non-issue.
I fail to see why you can't just change the "file reference" in your example, when installing an update.

Makes it easier down the line to just update the media rather than mess around redesigning stuff without having to spend time developing additional assets initially and/or because the initial assets fits until a later update.

let's hope Intel brings a better open source upscaling because FSR is already everywhere you look, even on emulators. In 3 months it spread faster than the virus.

Different tech that is not mutually exclusive. I don't know why everyone thinks fsr, dlss and xess are mutually exclusive.

You'll just see more and more games over time supporting multiple upscaling methods just like many games support multiple methods for anti aliasing

AMD gave the devs exactly what they asked for in FSR. Easy to implement, not confined to one vendor or type of hardware, no special AI training or gatekeeping needed. Sure, it may not be perfect, but the return on the time/money investment is massive. It's a no-brainer to support it.

Added Deathloop and Enlisted and Elite Dangerous Odyssey to this list.

I was talking more about the unoficial support, with the tools released by the community, there are almost no games right now that you can't run FSR on. Sure it is not the same thing as the oficial support, fsr being added at the end of rendering with the unoficial tools, but if you need more FPS, it just works. :)
maybe we will see the same tools developed for the Intel solution. The devs don't want to add FSR/XESS support? F...k them we will get it anyway!
