It differs from car to car, but generally a well looked after BMW can be reliable. However when something goes wrong it's not a £50-£80 fix like a Renault.

Fox regularly spends thousands each year keeping his 530i in top condition.

Even the new 335i is suppose to have a fuel pump failure issue which outside of warranty could cost you a couple of thousand (iirc?).

Well lets just say that my mates Stripped out Lupo GTi kept up with a cliosport and thats just as fast as my Standard ST. Only beat him at top end cause his car doesnt have a high top speed.
More tuneable due to the fact that Ford have limited the ST. If you add a decent air filter you can get much more gains than a the already tuned Clio. Also if you add a exhaust system you can push the car from 150 to about 170+.


My mate who works at a garage I wont mention quoted me £250 for new shocks and springs all round.

Air filter giving massive gains eh? Are you a halfords man by any chance?

You'd need to completey sort the breathing out, with a quality airbox, manifold and catback, as well as mapping, which is not cheap, you just can't tune N/A cars easily, especially 2 Litre 4 pots, and then your looking at 30bhp max. Still a ****e engine in the ST.

Don't know what planet people are on, but a ST does not keep up with a 182 Clio. Also whats with the posts about scary clio running costs, has the world gone mad?

never said i didn't like it, or any quick renault's, there just not as good as quick Honda's.:D

There was a nice white Clio 200 cup next to my DC5 when i went back to pick it up after the service and while it obviously didn't look as good, it was trying. :D

All that torque - its at your flywheel.

Your car doesnt 'destroy' 182's at all, the only thing it destroys is any sense of peace and quiet at the traffic lights as the nasty engine shakes your interior apart.
 
Is it mapped or modded? Seriously if you followed a 182 down a B road, the Ibiza would be lagging regardless if it has coil-overs. The chassie is nowwhere near as good as the 182. And a standard FR is what 160BHP? Off the line it is slower. Maybe ingear times might be close but unless you have spent good money on mapping. Not sure what 182s you have being demolishing.

mapped , filter ,exhaust ,clutch and polybushed engine and gearbox mounts and soon to have a hybrid turbo fitted :), and off the line im deffo slower bloody 1st gear but soon reel them in, and fox its running around 240-260 bhp and a good 400 pound of torque havent had chance to get it properly on the rollers yet going to put it in at the end of the month pay day permitting :)
