Don't be too upset for them, just be thankful they can go back home to their £150K per week (ish).

Being a Scotland fan I was actually rooting for England tonight but they were poor. Perhaps they can share a plane back with Spain?

We would probably need to win by 2 or 3 goals and then would go through on goal difference.

If Italy beat costa Rica they will still want to beat Uruguay to get a more favorable second round match.

Italy will likely win tomorrow and we will go into the final game full of hope and then get thumped 4-0.

Agreed. Urgay looked just as bad as us, if not worse. Difference is, they had Suarez.

I don't know about Football either, I thought about goal difference but...WHAT goal difference? Our stats are abysmal for that also. So not only do Italy need to beat both other teams they play, but they need to concede no goals and England needs to win versus Costa Rica by a wide margin.

Spain and England will be taking two planes each so no chance, they need space for all the egos.

Yeah he was, they all were in different spells. As I said before the tournie they don't care. It gets int he way of a summer break and Hello photshoots. I have not liked or rated international football for years but England aside I have enjoyed the other games.
 
It's a shame because I think England played positively, if somewhat naively and without discipline at time, in the tournament. I think there was an undercurrent of expectation on the more raw talents and clearly some of the decision making was poor - there is no point running past two players if there is no end products.

Rooney was better today going forward however which ever side he was on or even when he was central then Uruguay did target his lack of defensive contribution and profited from that.

Sometimes I wish the youngsters would just not be thrown in like this and left at U21 level to gain experience or that we'd just play younger players knowing we would not do so well but with the purpose to get them big game experience. When you have people who do not play together at club level I think they do need time to gel and time and time again teams that bring through groups of player together do profit.

Rooney had some great chances today and has been involved in both goals. I honestly don't get wtf people can't see this.

Suarez was the difference, only player in the world imo who has the footballing brain to start moving for that ball whilst it's in the air and the finish was sublime.

Italy - 9pts
Uruguay - 3pts (win vs Eng, loss vs C. Rica and Italy
England - 3pts (win vs C Rica, loss vs Uruguay and Italy)
Costa Rica - 3pts (win vs Uruguay, loss vs Italy and England)

At the moment the GD stands

Italy - +1
England - -2
Uruguay - -1
Costa Rica - +2

If Costa Rica lose against Italy 1-0, and Italy beat Uruguay 1-0 it would be

Italy - +3
England - -2
Uruguay - -2
Costa Rica - +1

With the England - Costa Rica game to be played. It needs to end 2-0+ for England, unless Italy beat Costa Rica by more than 1 goal.

Exactly. Look at the contributions of the likes of Fred and Diego Costa playing in much better teams and in their preferred role. Rooney has hardly done badly.
