Did they? Compare them to Chile the other night, Uruguay faded fast and were on the backfoot for most of the game. They created very little in the final third too, just lucky they have 2 world class strikers.
I agree with Tim Vickery on World Cups and have done for a long time really, it's important to grow in to a World Cup, really like any competition.
There should be a marked improvement each game, only seeing some teams play once makes it impossible to judge this, so it's easier to judge at the end of the group phases.
I genuinely thought England were better tonight than against Italy, not that it matters as they lost, I felt the defence were more cohesive, I thought the midfield did ~ok~ but the forwards looked a little ... one dimensional really. I don't know, I've not really had time to think about the match.
Uruguay looked better tonight than they did against Costa Rica, while it certainly was not a vintage performance from them, it didn't need to be, similar to Italy, teams don't have to be at their best to beat England, for all the possession England had, they rarely did anything with it. Suarez looked dangerous all game, reflected by his two goals and Cavani looked dangerous and sharp, 'dat pass for the opening goal

. Uruguay pressed better too, comfortable on the ball, much more confident too.
Anyway; still a good game to come tonight! Come on the Samurai's
