Watched the Iran v Nigeria game (also, now watched every game at the World Cup, after catching up over night) .
I watched it with the 5 Live commentary, which was a mistake. The patronising, condescending main commentator was **** and had clearly done little to none research.
I didn't think the match was that bad per say, it was obviously short of quality especially in the final third of the pitch, however both teams put everything in to the game and it was very end to end, funnily enough felt like a cup match.
That little lack of quality in the final third was what kept either side from scoring. Iran built upon their qualification campaign, being solid. Nigeria were disappointing a little though.
Eurgghhh what a turgid terrible game that was. Iran just happy with a draw so defended deep. Nigeria absolutely no clue on how to break them down, got so desperate they tried long ball football 19th century style lol. Odemwingie comes on and is instantly their best player on the pitch.
Mikel, Ambrose and Emenike should never touch a football ever again, useless players. Odemwingie and the GK were the best players on the pitch tonight.
Argentina and Bosnia are going to shred the holy hell out of Nigeria and Iran methinks...going to be a golazo fest.
Makes me wonder how the hell Nigeria won the last ACON.
Did anyone else somewhat think that Messi simply turning it on exactly when he wanted to was somewhat of a case of him telling the manager what he thought of the team.
Maybe he'd made it clear who he wanted to play with, so he decided to not bother till the manager put on the team he wanted, at which point he started to play?
Argentina looking pretty unremarkable at the moment.
I'm not sure why the commentators are complaining about Iran defending, what are they supposed to do? I think they'd be happy with a draw here and then try and win the last game.
