FIFA World Cup 2018 - GROUP G [Belgium, Panama, Tunisia, England - 18/23/24/28 June] **spoilers**

Scotland man here and I have to say that was among the worst refereeing over 90 minutes I think I have seen in a long time. There should have been at least 2 penalties that weren't given.

Makes me wonder what the actual point in VAR is.

I was really pleased with our performance tonight. Usually England plays utter guff in the first game of a tournament; we played like a team tonight. Finishing was lacking but we were clearly better throughout and it was only a contest because of some appalling decisions by the ref.

Nothing particularly spectacular in what he did as such but if you pay attention he was carrying the team far more than it appears at face value - look at the little touches where he imposes himself to keep things balanced or just to pull the game away from weaknesses.

So the same kind of thing Henderson gets abused for without the decent passes. :p

I agree, Gary Lineker there at the end "Overall I would say that we were exceptional Frank" , haha...yeah alright, we werent Mexico beating Germany, we just about scraped past Tunisia, it could have very easily been 1-1 such was the dropoff in the second half. Exceptional? Really?? I mean seriously....REALLY?

Pretending things werent 100% right and that there are things which absolutely need addressing if we are to be able to beat the top teams in the tournament doesnt do any favours. Again...."exceptional" ? Truly? Does anyone on here honestly think that 95 mins is accurately described as "Exceptional"

Because for the majority of the first half we looked pretty good.

Thr issue we have is Kane is a bit too honest, if that was the Tunisians getting rugby tackled they would have been screaming about it, stretched out in agony and surrounding the ref forcing a VAR look.

Can I borrow some of them rose tinted sunglasses for my holidays please?

Not sure I’d start Rashford. Dummying in the box when he has a clear shot, and just running the ball off and losing it. But then Sterling was awful too. Hard times.

He dummied it because he probably got a shout, no way does he leave that unless Lingard calls for it.... you can see in the replay he's fuming when Lingard knobs it up. He did more in 20 minutes than Sterling did in the entire game, Sterling was the worst player on the pitch by a mile.

Drop Sterling, falls over too much and misses chances which you can't afford to miss against big teams.

Henderson, needs to play forward passes more, looks like he worries about his pass stats rather than result!

Young, just doesn't look right, give Rose a start next game.

Lingard seemed a bit off sorts, again you can't.miss some of the chances he did.

I think Rashford/Loftus-Cheek and Rose to start next game, with Henderson being told he is only allowed to pass back 1 in 5 :)

Yeah he clearly gets a call from that plonker behind him.

Harry Maguire is comfortably the most boring footballer I've ever heard interviewed.

Who cares, Kane is exactly the same, I couldn’t give a toss as long as they perform on the pitch.

We must be one of the only countries that harass our players over every little detail.

Most of it is just projection by people sitting at home doing very little with their own existence.

Stirling needs to get the wrong bus and end up in Siberia. Or come down with bird flu. Or just disappear. Anything to keep him out of the England squad.

Yeah he clearly gets a call from that plonker behind him.
Ah to me it had looked as though he wasn’t expecting it, hence fluffing it so badly. But then he fluffed everything else too so I should have given him the benefit of the doubt!

Oh well... 3-0 England v Panama surely...

He's obviously got a call but still, he has to realise the chance was his and should have ignored the call. Crafty defenders will be trying to trick forwards with calls of 'leave it' etc all the time and he's got to realise when he should/shouldn't do it.
