FIFA World Cup 2018 - GROUP G [Belgium, Panama, Tunisia, England - 18/23/24/28 June] **spoilers**

He had a decent enough game but that was a bog standard corner at the end - in fact our tactic from set-plays was pretty much to hang it up around the penalty spot and rely on our extra height to win the first ball.

Bog standard though was exactly what was needed for Kane to sneak it in at the end.

Good result but disappointing performance. I said it first half Tunisia's main downfall was inability to defend set pieces. I dread to think what the score might have been if they could.

Looked like two clear penalties in real time, the replay just confirms it so the question is, what the **** are the VAR people doing if they're not penalties? They're stone wall, complete stone wall.

When Keown is banging on 15 minutes into the match that it's best he's ever seen them play, just wow really.

Just managed to beat Tunisa, I mean come on.

I agree, Gary Lineker there at the end "Overall I would say that we were exceptional Frank" , haha...yeah alright, we werent Mexico beating Germany, we just about scraped past Tunisia, it could have very easily been 1-1 such was the dropoff in the second half. Exceptional? Really?? I mean seriously....REALLY?

Pretending things werent 100% right and that there are things which absolutely need addressing if we are to be able to beat the top teams in the tournament doesnt do any favours. Again...."exceptional" ? Truly? Does anyone on here honestly think that 95 mins is accurately described as "Exceptional"

I must have missed the decent things Trippier did.

Nothing particularly spectacular in what he did as such but if you pay attention he was carrying the team far more than it appears at face value - look at the little touches where he imposes himself to keep things balanced or just to pull the game away from weaknesses.

I don't think our performance was any different to the last two tournaments we've been in

just this time we got the goal required at the end

we still really struggle when we play a team whos there to defend we don't unlock them

still say shelvey/wilshere should have gone to world cup

would have liked to of seen vardy come on instead of loftus cheek

Not sure I’d start Rashford. Dummying in the box when he has a clear shot, and just running the ball off and losing it. But then Sterling was awful too. Hard times.

The commentator earlier said bringing Rashford and the other sub on injected pace and energy into the team. I never understand why England start off with fire and then it drops off and they play so lethargically. Surely professional footballers playing their first match of the world cup can find massive amounts of energy for 90 minutes?

The only thing I can think of is that maybe the VAR system wasn't operational tonight, or the ref chose to ignore their suggestions.

Perhaps we also need a training session on vocal appeals to the ref?

Having 3 ball playing defenders didn’t work for me.

Seeing Maguire in the final third was depressing.

I’d prefer for another midfielder being on the pitch and two better defenders. Cahill and Another.
