FIFA World Cup 2018 - GROUP G [Belgium, Panama, Tunisia, England - 18/23/24/28 June] **spoilers**

The fans are celebrating the first goal they've ever scored in the world cup, it's a huge occasion for them. I really don't see what's wrong with that. Let them have thier moment, it's unlikely to happen again thier lifetime...

Except the next game is against Tunisia and they don't play bad at all :D :D

Group H is such a mess so far I think any discussion about being better off finishing 1st or 2nd is completely moot.

You are going to end up against a big team at some point. We should go out to beat Belgium. Although they have a good midfield we have equal or better players in all the other positions. We can get a result against Belgium it doesn't matter who we face.

Had Ronaldo, Messi or Neymar scored the goal that Lingard did the press would be screaming goal of the tournament.

Had Spain, Portugal, Brazil or Germany scored from that set piece the press would be banging on about how skilling theses teams are.

Great win from England.

I would be exceptionally upset if I was Rashford seeing the general scoring ability of Sterling for England. With the awful way they played for the last third of the game I'd be very upset if I was Vardy too, zero service.

England did a good job of not getting everything right again with this game, come pub trivia they will now be the first team Panama has ever scored against in a World Cup game ;)

Complete lack of killer instinct and poor working ethic in the last 30 minutes, wouldn't even call it a training match, just people passing ball back and forth while walking around. Completely switched off and let in a poor goal with lazy defending. Preserving energy for next game is a poor excuse for that pathetic display of football after the first 60 minutes.

This is why England are not a true top tier team and always underperform. Good result but real test is against Belgium.

You do know if this was a ‘top tier team’ they’d have done the exact same thing? Pass the ball and just see the game out.

They don’t care other than winning the game, hey don’t have the mentality of a football fan of wanting to see goal after goal.

Good result against a week team.

Just want to say... Sterling had about 10 touches. He gave away 5 or 6 free kicks. He gave away possession (without conceding a free kick) at least three times.

He ran into the goalie once and got fouled running up the wing once.

For his chance he headed the ball directly at the goalie.

That was his sole contribution.

If I was Vardy or Rashford I'd be entirely mystified as to how Sterling is keeping his place.

As for the team overall, we'll get a better idea after the first knock-out round, or after Belgium if they don't want to lose to come 2nd.

Err? They are celebrating because they won't end the game with a 0.
The second goal from the penalty was a clear offside and handball in attack - must be a return for the not accepted goal against Germany back in 2010 - when a hawk eye could have resolved the issue.

Why? To play with the winner of the group with Japan, Senegal, Columbia and Poland? How do you know which team is weaker there?

Don’t we end up on the unpleasant side of the draw if we win? I saw something with a lot of traditionally brilliant sides on one side of th draw and out-performers on the other.

I’d really prefer to avoid playing Germany of at all possible. They always come good

It'll be interesting to see what changes Southgate makes to the team for the Belgium game.

There's a good argument for resting a few ahead of the knockout stages, but equally you don't want to change too much. My suggestions would be Rashford for Sterling, Dier for Henderson and Rose for Young.

Wouldn't have cared if they didn't score another goal, mentality became poor with zero desire to even get the ball forward. Let's hope it was just a lapse in concentration and them switching off because they were playing a "poor" team.
