FIFA World Cup 2022 Final + Play-off ** spoilers ** [17th - 18th December 2022]

3 penalties, ice cold and still won **** all

Yes seriously, there’s celebrating then there’s being a tool. I can understand if the keeper saves it, celebrate with the keeper but if you’re in and around the player who misses the target you’re just being a dick. I could somewhat understand it if the guy taking it had dived, but it was stonewall. Or laughing obviously.

I'll spell it out for you.

I’ve literally no idea what you’re talking about.

Are you somehow suggesting Lloris should be praised for Kane missing? The same Lloris that hardly ever saves penalties. Good one bud.

I see, Lloris had nothing to do with Kane missing. Kane missed on an open goal.

You do realise who in this thread is the laughing stock.

I do, I’m laughing at him.

In your mind Lloris caused Kane to miss, that’s some voodoo level stuff going on there. Shame he didn’t use it in the final.

I guess Iwelumo missing from 2 yards was the keepers doing as well. I need to start giving goalkeepers more credit for players missing.

Why are people trolling Mbappe for Kane’s missed pen?! Beyond a joke that.

Do you expect the french team to feel sorry for the England team? Nonsense.

Kane has only himself to look at in the mirror when it comes to that penalty miss. Tbh England doesn’t deserve the game. Southgate didn’t deserve to go through to the semi. Look at the teams in the semi, two teams are clearly world class and have the best entertainment for 2hrs on a global stage doing what they do best. And the other two are outsider with odds well stacked against and got them there through hard graft and a lot of team work and individual excellences.

England and amongst other teams such as Germany, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Uruguay all have talents and skills in buckets but wasn’t to be. Such is the tournament.

I was writing off this World Cup as just another Euro show. But hey, it has certainly been an interesting one - for results sake. I am just glad the final and semi-finals weren’t all European affairs with a dash of “other continent” support acts.

And I am so glad CR7 didn’t get to the final or anywhere near that trophy.

Do you expect England fans to feel sorry for the French team, or Mbappe?

Irrelevant question - England wasn’t playing against French in the final. Non-comparable.

Plus as a neutral why would you feel sorry for the loser after that match?! I want to thank both sets of players especially Mbappe for lighting up the game and set the world on fire for a decent 80-90min gripping everyone’s attention and dial everyones heart rates to 200 every movement of the ball.

Greatest show ever in the football arena, no looser in my eyes. They all should be proud to be part of this historic moment.

If the players from both sides look back at this moment later in their lives, they will only have joy and deep reverence of the drama.

Anyone who harbours ill-will about anything after the match isn’t a true lover of football or anything resembling common decency…so might as well rot in hell

In all seriousness now, jokes aside. This was one of the best wc finals I've ever seen. Absolute bloody stonker of a final and will be that way in the history books for many many years. I honestly didn't want either team to lose near the end. This was a prime example of why football is the beautiful game.
Anyone that says football is boring and not entertaining need a re-check, because I, and I'm sure everyone else was thoroughly entertained. What a game. Thanks!

I always seem to catch the crusty games, where all they do is fall over and pass around defence for 10 minutes. I've seen the highlights and it does seem a real decent game of football was played. Need to stop watching England, lmao.

Yeah, I've watched all the finals since 1974 (vaguely remember the 1970 World Cup but mostly our TV running out and my Dad looking for 50p to turn it back on again!) and I have to agree, it turned out to be the best I can remember. It wasn't looking that way for the first half when France were still back in the team hotel but by the end it was a truly memorable game.

Happy for Mac Allister, had a great game! Glad we got him a new contract before the WC.

Feel like we’re going to get offers on a lot of players soon, Mitoma & Caicedo both had relatively decent tournaments.

What an amazing game. I don't think I've felt so exhausted by a football match in a long time.

It looked like Argentina had it stitched up until they took Di Maria off and tried to slow the pace of the game down.

Was impressed by Mac Allister's dribbling skills. There were a few moments I mistook him for Messi. Shows how stacked Argentina's attack were and why Messi got so much free reign.

Mbappe is an absolute danger man for any team. There's no doubt he's going to break a load of records but I still don't see the makings of a "greatest ever" type player. More like a van Nistelrooy level player. Still with Messi and Ronaldo retiring soon the definition of world class will probably change.

The awards could have been better I thought. Remove Macron who just seemed to want Mbappe's babies. Plus getting Messi to wear that ridiculous robe spoilt the lifting of the cup a little.

All in all congratulations to Argentina. A big team effort and a fitting end to Messi's international career.

It been a great tournament. Initially didn't like the thought of a winter world cup but it's brought a bit of fun into December. Glad to have looked past all the political bs at the beginning and just enjoy the football.
