FIFA World Cup 2022 Group B ** spoilers ** (England, Iran, USA, Wales)

Ian Rush was playing for Liverpool all the way to the end as an integral part. Bale for the most part of his Madrid career been getting medals for just being on the books. He has a 21/22 champions league medal for playing 2 games. And 21/22 La Liga medal for playing 5. Rush played nearly double the amount of games as Bale for Liverpool than he has played for Madrid.

You also seem to forget it is a lot easier to qualify for the World Cup and Euro's compared to before.

What about the other 4 Champions Leagues?

You can't honestly think Rush was a better player than Bale when both in their prime?

This will be a cagey game England will not want to lose and Wales will play way better than normal as this is their world cup final.

I've got the Iran V USA game on the tablet as think that might be a good un.

Hard to compare them to be fair, very different players. One was an out and out goal poacher supreme, the other is more of a creative forward who can score from time to time. One generally finished moves the other generally creates moves. If they played in the same team, you'd play them both rather than having to decide which one is best.

Yeah absolutely. But picking the ball up on the halfway line and beating a couple of players to put the ball in the middle for an Ian Rush type player is a lot harder to do.

I'd rather have a player who is 9/10 for 15 years than a superstar who has a window of about 4 years.

Rush also won 2 champions leagues and was banned from playing for 5 years because of Liverpool so would have undoubtedly won more.

We have not even started the debate with Giggs who had a career spanning 20 years.+

All I am saying is there is always a lot of recency bias when talking about these things and I hate Liverpool.

I couldnt say as I'm not a footballer. The debate on whether its harder to create a goal or score a goal is one I will leave to more knowledgeable heads than mine :)

in 2014 and 2018 he was the player who single handily secured the champions league for madrid scoring possibly the greatest champions league final goal ever

when your trying to say the person who rates bale as the greatest (RUSH) as the best, your onto a losing battle

Peak bale was one of the best players in the world for a number of years
