Just watched Mulholland Drive, thought maybe I was missing something but found a six page article on the net that tried to explain what happened in the film and acknowledged the fact that much of it was totally random and irrelevant. I have a vague idea of what happened but it so bizzare and random that the plot changed suddenly without explaining why - anyone else seen this film and been equally baffled?

Yeah, Mulholland Dr. is definitely confusing. One of Lynch's weakest, I think - I've not been able to figure out what half the stuff in it is for, and have prertty much conceded that it's there for emotional or atmospheric effect. That's a disappointing answer, but it's the best I've got. I love the switching actresses thing, though. Genius.

On another note, Spy Kids 3D. I mean, what the hell happened there?

Videodrome

I was a bit worse for wear at the time (about 9-10 years ago) & this tipped me over the edge. I have vague recollections of people's hands being put into someone's stomach & turning into bombs

I thought of Mulholland Driver as soon as I saw the title without reading the thread. Turns out i was right, the firm is definitly strange, i prefer to think of it all as a dream. And then just enjoy it.

Identity - i watched it the first time, then the twist happened it took about 20 mins more of me saying WTF is going on? before at the end when i finally cottoned on to what was happening, definitly requires 2 watches to "get" the film like.

or maybe that was just me.

punch drunk love *the film that made no sense with adam sandler in* and broken flowers *the film that made no sense with bill murray in*

maybe i'm just slow :|

The Secretary. Not only a really wierd film in general (About how a self harmer uses bondadge as a a means to overcome her addiction) but the ending is very strange.

I love Mulholland Drive, Lynch at his best if you ask me. Took me a couple of goes but I think I get it now.

I watched Wild at Heart last night, another Lynch film and it was equally strange, but in a different way. I know what happened, I'm just not sure why it happened.

Lost Highway I seem to recall is pretty odd too, only seen it once but am watching it again tonight having just acquired it so will let you know.

i'm the only person i know who actually likes that film. surprisingly he's quite a good dramatic actor.

the one that got me the first time was Vanilla Sky...i missed about 20 minutes in the middle of it so i kinda have an excuse. it took me 2 or 3 goes to actually get what was going on. good film though

Vanilla Sky - pointless self-indulgent crap.

edit: ^Sic, I take it it's worth another bash?
