Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn

Yep, they were instant for me before that one too then all of a sudden that one takes ages for a pop and so have all the ones after it.

I'm sure other people will enjoy repeating Fates but i'm finding myself really bored with the leveling, especially on alt classes.

Ah :/ that doesn't bode well. The last dungeon I did was that Maw of Toto-rak one or whatever it's called and that was instant, but I'm pretty sure that was sub-28 so I probably haven't reached that stage yet where queuing as a healer doesn't result in an instant Duty.

I'm just enjoying the being in the game world at the moment so I don't mind the grind at all, but I don't know how long this feeling will last of not getting bored doing mundane stuff. I'll probably just watch Netflix on my second monitor if worse comes to worst :p

What exactly are peoples problems with the map?

The only major issue I have with it is how bloody vague the place names are. There isn't any clear cut boundary for them so when you're hunting down an enemy for the log you just end up wandering around aimlessly hoping to run into it. I was trying to find vegatation to harvest Fire Shards yesterday in Middle La Noscea (I think it was) and I just couldn't find it anywhere.

Yeah, this is a real shame. I'll put a +1 for anyone joining to come to Cerberus.

I managed to find a nice Free Company the other day by the name of Coral. It's an predominently UK guild and they seem nice enough so may be worth checking them out if you're looking for one. They've got a good mix of level ranges from early teens to a few higher 30's.
I'm at work at the moment so can't remember who you'll need to contact though for an invite.

As for the questing, like people say if you switch to another class the first 15 or so levels aren't a problem becuase you're usually in another starting city/zone so loads of quests still available. After that though it looks like it will be a case of hunting logs/fates/dungeons to grind which isn't too bad as fates are being paraded as the fastest way to level at the moment.

Check the FFXIV sub-reddit and there's a good post on there detailing the good fate grinding spots if you're looking to power through a few levels. i hit 30 on my Gladiator last night and am currently working throuh Conjurer to get my Paladin upgrade and haven't felt the need to grind fates once so far.

Haven't had any troubles with the map so far, I have it open a lot of the time (faded out) so I can keep track of where I need to go. It did seem a bit anti-user friendly at first but once you get to grips with it and teh navigation it doesn't pose too much trouble.

I don't mind the map myself. It's.. ok. I do feel that it could be a lot better though. In-game maps quite often seem to be an afterthought almost. I would love to see really lavish maps graphically & artistically full of detail & interactivity....:/

Personally I'd just like to see it display Gathering locations once you've visited them when you're on the relevant Gathering class :p

How are the dungeons btw? are they comparable to any other MMO's

I'm level 16 at the moment, so I think I can get into the first dungeon (One near Gridania), however, everytime I try I have to complete X quest line first. Is this the case for all dungeons?

I really like them. They look great, and they aren't so easy that you can faceroll your way through them, and the bosses actually have tactics.

The first few dungeons do that, but I found that after about level 20 or so they're usually just quests you can pick up without having done any previously that basically just guide you to where the dungeon is and once the quest has been completed, it appears in your Duty Finder.

The dungeons unlock via your main story quest, at least that's how the first 5 for me have been unlocked in the duty finder. I was stuck for ages because I missed my next story quest and couldn't run dungeons... I was level 20 at the time.

Are dungeons grouped?

I'm really looking forward to giving the game a proper session this weekend... Cleared all plans, haven't had a MMO binge in months.

Thanks for the info guys! :)

So is it standard setup like 5-man (tank, heal, 3 dps)?

Looking forward to my first one, I've just delivered the letters to the other cities, have I got much longer to go?!

They're 4-man with a tank, healer, and 2 DDs.

I can't remember exactly at which point you unlocked them, but I imagine you aren't far off at level 16.

Only if you use the Duty Finder to keep it balanced for random teams. If you want you can enter with 4 Pugilists so long as you form the team yourself (though it isn't advised).

Unfortunately the official EU launcher is borked. Can't get past T&C. Parsing and script is broken meaning I can't click through. Tried it 5 times now :(

This is happening to a few people not just me. Has anyone heard of a workaround? I'm on the verge of sending the game back for a refund. Can't even get the game installed! :(

Stopping registering codes would be foolish. It would generate so much bad publicity if people could buy the product then couldn't register it to play it. So I very much doubt they'd do that.
