Finally got it 3090

hahahaha maybe do research before taking advice off random people on the interwebs, the stated power supply for that gpu is around 800w.

It's obviously glitchy nvidia drivers like the issues the 3080 had. /endthread

You must like being given bad advice.

The advise was correct 750W is a bit underpowered for a 3090 setup.

I don't think it was the cause of the problems you had with low fps but you could run into problems with a very graphically demanding game or software that would cause system crashes.

Moving to a 1200W PSU means your system will run more efficiently and quietly as the power supply is not struggling all the time.

You do need to do research on bios settings and also IIRC you mentioned you were using 3200mhz memory which seems a bit on the slow side for a 10900k.

With a GPU like a 3090 it will behave differently to something like a 2080 and will have more problems with CPU and software bottlenecks.

I use a setup that is quite a bit faster than a 3090 and fps drops at resolutions like 1080p and 1440p happen a lot.

The guys are trying to help and often with this sort of thing it is not easy to nail down the problem.

It can't be the power supply i had a power supply that was not up to gaming at 4k when i bought a new graphics card and my whole system used to restart during games it would not be a frame rate drop its just probably bad drivers.

Revert to a driver before that nvidia reflex or whatever it was called that does reduced latency stuff for new 3xxx series or wait for a new driver to fix it or as i said before upload and show us cpu-z screenshot of ur ram timings to see if xmp profile is used in bios or not as that can reduce fps if you built a new system and not sure on bios settings for the ram. Use imgur or something to upload the screenies.

For a 3090 u probably want to be running 4k even if your monitor is 1080 or 1440p using vsr so ur gpu is working best as at its intended res.

Also a long shot but how are you connecting the psu to the gpu, are you using seperate 2 cables running from a to b or a different way, as some ppl suggest its best to have 2 pcie cables for the 2 gpu ports and not use 1 cable with 2 pcie ends on. Tho it shouldnt really be any cause of a sharp decrease of fps.

is he connecting the card with 2 seperate power connectors and not split ones? i seen another post on here that had a 3080 and was having fps problems and they were using split connections from the power supply not single ones.

The reality is the PSU wasn’t really enough for the 3090 and it’s well documented you need a decent 850+ and a 750 for a 3080.
You mention you have a 3090 but you don’t mention what brand of SKU it is ?
Have you tried various drivers and noticed any differences ?
Perhaps roll back to an earlier driver one if one has been Slightly better?
It will take time and testing

Remember as well you are a very early adopter and so you should expect such issues and if you ask for help and are offered suggestions you cannot really complain when you follow that advice and it doesn’t work - they are only that - suggestions.

I would suggest that as the drivers mature you’ll get a more solid experience and to have patience
Often a fresh install - which doesn’t take long and won’t cost you anything but a bit of time can transform a pc

This isn't really of any help but I thought I would mention it. I was watching Dr Disrespect last night and he has just had an upgrade to the 47 million dollar command centre. He now has a 10900k and the 3090 and all evening did nothing but try and fix the game (Warzone) dropping fps, looking jerky/clunky and just generally running like an absolute bag. He tried new drivers, old drivers, removing geforce experience, changed almost every setting and it still ran awful.

I'm a long way from an expert but it would appear they are yet to get the drivers working properly for these new cards.

I saw some of that ..he needed to restart the game for settings to take effect but was not doing.then reverting the NV settings back so he never knew if it would make any difference :(

Also does a 3090 not get fully utilised at 1080p so he is no better off then he was on a 2080ti i am sure i saw some benchmarks re this
