Finally the Jeremy Kyle show has been axed, 14 years too late.

6 of the 7 women in my office talk about Love Island every.single.day.

And they are a range of ages, from 20 to 65!

When big brother was a new show back in the day I'd make myself watch it so I'd have good conversational openers... damn I was desperate :D

couldn't make it up - apparently it' s sponsored by obesity/fast-food promoters ... bipolar - but the dietting adds of previous years were cut ...
I'm intrigued do they show these people eating , being able to cook, or just dialling up the fast food.
but ok coke sponsors sport, and british tobacco back in f1

It is understood that Uber Eats, taxi-hailing firm Uber’s food delivery service, has paid in the region of £5m to sponsor the hit show. This is more than double the estimated £2.25m previous sponsor Superdrug paid for the record-setting last series.

Superdrug found the proposed £3.5m opening price set by ITV of sponsoring a fourth series of the Mallorca-set reality TV show too much but serious bids from nine advertisers keen to take it on drove the value to £5m

..
and also the sale of 260,000 branded water bottles at £15 each

edit: maybe the bottles have you favourite ones bath water

I'd love to see the viewership of something like Love Island, like... why? Who the hell are you to have such low standards that you watch a bunch of highly attractive people have fake relationships all day?

At least it'd be more interesting than the show.

My telly viewing > way better than your telly viewing.

I've never seen it but bloody hell, it entertains people.

It's the whole 'What I do is way better than what you do' attitude of this forum.

There are objectively better things to do than watch that ****, reading a classic, learning a skill, taking up a hobby, doing a degree, or just better shows to watch.

I'll judge them all i want, they're voters after all.

But wont someone think of the children if the tv programme is damaging the 16->34 age group who are tuning in, body dysmorphia, dietary issues, perverted view on relationships, then like the porn issue, society needs to protect itself,
as I commented, facebook attracts criticism, with no publishing responsibility, but itv is a publisher and we still end up with this.

in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king ... maybe the quality was better when the monies were just directed to the 4 original channels, too much mediocrity now -
with dilution of monies being directed to the good stuff. - comedy... wheres the new thick of it, monty python, fawlty towers, spike milligan

They all died with the people who used to watch them.

[... so you don't think comedy quality has gone downhill ]

looks like women's aid , and ofcom, upcoming consultation, have got love islands measure :

Adina Claire, Acting Co-Chief Executive of Women’s Aid, said:

“Women’s Aid is becoming increasingly concerned about what appear to be unhealthy fledgling relationships being used as entertainment in Love Island. Most recently, the programme has shown Amber repeatedly reduced to tears and appearing to have her emotions manipulated.

We hope that producers are looking after the wellbeing of the contestants and will step in when any form of behaviour becomes abusive. We have been contacted by a number of viewers on social media throughout the series about behaviour they are worried about, involving several contestants, and would ask producers to always take this seriously, and consider the messages being sent to viewers and contestants on the show.”

... coercive control prosecutions to follow ?

£15 for a bottle?!? WTF? There’s a lot of stupid people out there.

You could have the opinion about 99% of the things people buy. It doesnt make someone stupid.

"£400 for a Gucci belt" for eg.

Love Island is dumb fun and is genuinely entertaining. If it isnt your thing then...ok cool, change the channel. I cant stand Strictly Come Dancing personally but hey people watch what they wanna watch.
