Just how invasive is the install? Our phone line comes across the font of the house, over the roof then back across the back before coming in to the wall, no idea why as there are shorter ways to route it.
It's going to be on an individual basis really
They may choose a different route for the fibre
Compared to your phone line routing
In my case a site survey was carried out months ago
They decided the route then
And the preliminary work was carried out
Leaving a relatively easy job for the engineer
Just drill a hole through the wall to the box they put outside
On the wall
That junction box can serve both myself
And my neighbours installations

Some houses I have seen the fibre in the pavement
Outside
Then the engineer takes it from there

Nobody will throw a cable over a roof anymore, except maybe Virgin.

So fttp fitted Friday
Sitting next to the router 515Mbs
Plug into the router in same room 515Mbs
Great stuff

But wifi in pc room only 250Mbs
Access point in pc room also approx 250Mbs wired
And wifi
Somewhere I have a dodgy connection or a
Small break/damage to the cat 6a Between the rooms
Between main router and access point annoyingly

But plusnet are delivering slightly above the 500Mbs advertised
Which is good news for any of you going plusnet I guess
Obviously wifi and secondary access points are
The users responsibility not plusnet

It's day 1 of a failed appointment, there's nothing to gain by going down the CEO email route.

You're due £6.10 per day until the service goes live, plus £30.49 for the engineer no-show.
You were correct mate
Fair play to plusnet
Just emailed me that they owe me £30.49
Didn't even have to contact them about it
It's applied as a credit
And used for next bill/bills
Rather than paid directly to you
So basically 1 months free fttp for the inconvenience

Got any quality of service stuff turned on?
Knocks about half off my speeds and not really needed on fttp.
Reckon I found the problem now
My cable goes around front door frame
Had some so called carpenter fit an intumescent strip
On the door (fire door)
And an automatic door closer
Think he damaged the cable a little
I didn't notice any issues while still at 38Mbs
But 500Mbs it's probably damaged to the point
It can only cope with half that

After double checking everything possible
I found some spare cable long enough to reach
And yep getting 515Mbs at the pc now
Wasn't long enough to properly route it
So my other half's not too happy at the moment
Got no idea why women get so upset over being able to see
cables and wires

I don’t - my desk is a mess!

Strange I would’ve thought it would be stuck at 100Mbps if there was cable damage though!

Not sure
But have double, even triple checked everything
Replaced patch leads from ont to router
And from access point to pc
Even replaced rj45 connectors
Still the same

As soon as I ran the different cable
Both straight to pc
And to the access point
It's 515Mbs
So only thing left is the original main cable
