Firefox 29?

Drama much?

There are many ways to get the look and feel you want, some have already been mentioned here. Your loss I guess.

Just venting a little frustration, been using Firefox since the very early days. I'd just like my tabs under the bookmarks bar, anything else i can live with, but i'm not going to sit here installing add-ons just to add back what i got with a singular setting adjustment prior to v29.

EDIT: Gone back to FF28, much happier now.

For those saying they'll have to switch browsers now, try the Extended Support Release from Mozilla. It has all the security patches but the old UI.

Link.

This is how I have FF29 currently:

And this is pretty close to how I had FF28:

Right now, I still can't get used to the address bar being so far on the left. That's my biggest gripe. Other than that, it looks a bit too much like Chrome, but nothing that won't grow on me.

It's the correct place for them. The window includes the URL bar/favourite bar etc. and the Tab bar chooses what you see below it. It was driving me mad having it at the top. It is quite simply wrong having tabs on the top.

But the address bar is part of whatever tab you're on (in that it shows the URL of the current page), so it makes more sense to have the tabs above.

Doesn't matter either way, as long as you can change it to suit you.

Stylish along with a couple of other extensions I have updated today with Firefox 29 and beyond support. YoutubeHD supports FF's new Electrolysis system (tab contents are processes on their own).

"OMG CHROME COPIERS!!!" in 3...2...1... :D

Are there any vertical tab bars that work properly in FF 29? Everything seems to go to pot and I live on vertical tabs. W7 min/max/close goes all wrong.

I'm using Tree Style Tab with FF 32 (Nightly) and it works fine, so I'm sure it would work with 29.

Edit: I do see some reviews reporting problems with it in FF 29, so not sure what's going on there. As I said, no problems here with 32.

Absolutely!

I've rolled back to FF28 and this is what my FF should look like (and how it does look now I'm back to normal):

Personal Titlebar to get everything on the Menu bar into the title bar, and a stylish script for the bookmark icons to get rid of their text.

No no no, to me the tab bar feels natural and "right" up top above the URL bar! Naturally it feels logical to access the URL bar first because that's what you're most commonly going to be using right, tab bar after that and since your mouse is on the webpage anyway you'll be zooming to tab bar after the URL bar :p

Anyway, subjective preferences and all that...

I really like how the new app menu button can be customised, it's just awesome. The URL bar is a combined awesome bar, the app button menu is the new awesome menu. Isn't v29 just awesome?

Not at all! If I've gone to the URL bar then something has gone wrong with my life and I need a new bookmark icon on my bookmark toolbar to fix it! Tabs then bookmarks and then in a worst case scenario I'd need to use the URL bar but that will highly likely involve needing to move to use my keyboard.

I was a primarily Firefox user but 29 has made the experience slow, YouTube videos also crash often so I have moved to chrome, way faster

No issues here even on Youtube and still rock stable ,sounds like you may have a corrupt FF profile or another issue, try System Ninja(free) it deletes old profiles etc...

You could try disabling hardware acceleration to see if it's a video driver issue.

Btw using Win8.1 Pro x64 .

Tabs on top is driving me nuts but I will get used to it, I have gotten my add-on bar/status bar back at the bottom thanks to a add-on which has made the top section far better for me. Not having a refresh button to the left of the URL bar has taken so getting used to but can just use F5 for that anyway (plus it's at the other end of the URL bar now).

As first I really wasn't happy with it but right now I can live with it.

anyone know how to remove the one click bookmark star icon ? i keep bookmarking pages when I just want to open bookmarks ?

gone back to earlier build with security updates, this is dreadful if they don't fix it so the old minimal style works i'll swap to chrome
this is how I like mine

I also need something at the bottom of the window (i.e. addons bar) as I have my taskbar on the right of the window. :p

I hate tabs on top also, and have used theme restorer to get them back to the bottom, but logically, tabs on top makes more sense. The URL bar is related to the tab and thus should be 'under' it, not above it. Bookmarks however screw that up, and should technically be outside of a tab, but that would just be even more useless.

Only got this update today. Is there a way to disable the odd grey transparency where the Tabs appear? Looks very ugly with a black taskbar at the bottom of my screen and a Transparent bar at the top.

Also makes it hard to make out what each tab is.
