First build thread

got to the point where windows has finished its first install and realised i hadnt eaten heh

am pretty knackered so am going to stop for now wont be resuming till Thursday evening as i am on a very busy schedule till then.

thanks a lot stulid for your help i would definitely not have been able to do it without you and thanks to the forum for convincing me to build my own!

few notes

cpu temp idling at 50degrees - seems very high

have had no chance to upgrade drivers and the like as i currently have no cable internet due to a problem in my area and no wireless capability available on the unit

new current issue - unable to access the boot menu when turning on/ unable to access uefi setup as it seems to crash / freeze

That is to high, should be high 30's

where are you getting this value from? Bios or at the desktop? Which program?
.

How much paste did you use? Should be a grain of rice in the center of the top of the cpu, the force of the cooler clamping down will spread it out.

Refit the cooler? Can you clamp it tighter down?

small amount of paste used - clamping spread it i guess

its very tightly pressed against the cpu - cant clamp tighter

image on way

Is it using realtemp program? The problem now is I must go to bed, will try to answer in the morning unless someone sorts you out in the n mean time

photoyjg.jpg

quality not great but i have sub optimal camera atm

a couple more things to consider

installed asrock and nvidia drivers from disks

- i cant find a disk for installing intel i5 drivers

hdmi is now working 1360 x 768 which is recommended, increasing resolution pushes the boundaries of the image outside of the screen (it doesnt fit)

sound is coming through the hd monitor :)

i will be back in communication around 830pm gmt today hopefully with internet access on the pc itself

edit - to answer an earlier question its using the bios as displayed in the poor image. for obvious reasons i am currently unable to test using realtemp although HOPEFULLY that should be an option this evening

edit 2 - accessing the uefi menu / boot menu is tempermental and has more often than not cause the system to be stuck on the azrock boot screen (note - windows will boot up fine if you do not attempt to access the bios)

Also download Prime95, so you can create a screen shot like this,

Untitled-119.png

And do the same but without running Prime95 or anything else so its at IDLE.

As for accessing the UEFI, well I just hit DELETE until Im there:D

btw extreme utility tool says core temp at idle is 40 which i am happier with than 50

do i need cpu-z? i can get you a screenshot if you wish

It just shows the exact core speed of the CPU at the time of the temp reading from Realtemp.

So is everything installed? motherboard drivers/graphic drivers etc?

All working ok?

graphics and motherboard drivers up to date.

no AV up atm - internet is up

cant get 1920 x 1080 resolution to fit my 22" LCD correctly just goes over the edges and loses sharpness

in ure screenie u just have axtu cpu-z and prime 95 running - shall i take an identical shot?

havent tried any clocking yet have no need at the moment

first thing i want to sort out is this resolution =/

yes

it states the native resolution is 1360x768 but i was able to run at 1920 x 1080 from my laptop

scratch that - its running at max next project new monitor :)

what i really want to do now is scale down the UI it is WAY WAY too large
