First case mods Lian Li V351R & Build Log

i cut away a portion of the cd mounting bag anyway to route my cables through so they are out of sight :) also allowed me to plug the modular connectors in a little easier

Well today i emailed EVGA as i have no idea if the board got there and i got a reply that they are waiting on a delivery of the board as it isn't available in Europe.
But i will be getting a new one sweet happy days i can now continue my build without worrying about whats coming back to me :D:D

ive jsut seen RJKoneils build and he braided extension cables for the ATX and CPU power i might have to do that for mine!

are you jsut going to WC the cpu or do the chipset gfx aswell ?

Im bored now got nothing to build might have to make some changes to my setup.

I will do the northbridge (dunno what block to use?) but my GTX's i might have to put on a old zalman reserator 2 that i could use if i wanted too but ill wait till Fermi is out before i think about water cooling my GPU's

I was thinking of building a micro atx setup inside one of these cases. With either a Asus maximus 3 gene, or Asus rampage 2 gene. Depending if I go i7 or i5. How are they for air cooling?

Hi there,

What your doing is something i already have done so i can give you a few tips:

The XSPC pump/rad combo doesnt work very well in this case, the reason being is you cant screw it firmly onto the 5.25 bay. Unless you take it completly out and cut holes in the front inside panel, i did but its a lot of work. Even after this, the pump still made an anoying sound. so i whipped it out and bought another pump res combo i now have that in and it seems ok.

I have a thermochill rad in mine and because of its size, it had to screwed over the middle of the two 120mm fans in the inside, as it stuck out and i couldnt put the side panels on any other way.

The tubes coming from your cpu are best with 45' fittings, as i had a lot of leaking problems because of the angles. i think the 90' are a little restrictive.

If you stick a good fan in the hard drive bay, it shoudl keeps your HD temps ok.

Also something to extract the hot air out of the case at the back is those antec fans that go into spare pci slots, these made a big difference to my setup, if your watercooling the GPU then i definitly would have a few of these to extract the hot air.

Hurray after finally getting around to ordering the stuff for my WC setup i have finished installing it.

It has taken around 8 hours i have a huge headache, backache cuts and sweat but its installed and it looks sweet :):):)

The block shot.

Rad and loop

Now all i need is some better photos as they are not that pretty to look at, now all that's left is to get some black and red braid for PSU and it will be almost complete :D

Had forgotten about this thread, 2 months since the last update haha. Nice to see its still going though :) How does this setup compate to the H50? Temps much better?

Well temps at the moment are better than the H50 although i suspect i have air trapped somewhere possibly in the rad and at the minute i don't want to pick this thing up and deal with it i am ruined from yesterday, this little thing weighs so much it's silly.

I am currently doing F@h on CPU so I'll be able to see how it compares, the H50 used to get to about 80°c+ so i am hopeful for a reduction it is currently sitting @ low 70°c :D:D, and it's so quiet but my northbridge and VRM's are getting toasty :D

He's used 7/16" tubing (if he went for the stuff in the order he posted earlier) which is very secure on 1/2" barbs. Been using those sizes myself for 6 months or so and no problems, and when I have changed the loop, Ive had to cut the tubing off the barbs as it wont pull off!! I think he'll be fine :)

I was testing out some WC components for my new build this afternoon, and I used 7/16" tubing over 1/2" barbs and on 2 seperate occasions the tubing popped off on me...

I was moving things around, but I was being careful, but it still came off and soaked me in the process!

Could be the fittings I was using though, they were EK ones, which are pants imo.

I've tried 3/8" over 1/2" fittings and that was extremely tight, I struggled to get the tubing off the fittings!!

Really nice looking build btw mate, that case is awesome!
