First Imac purchase

Ahh ok, is the Ram a good price from Apple in comparison to other companies?

No! Stupidly expensive!!

I disagree. It would have cost me £60 from Crucial or £80 for Apple to supply and fit it. I thought it worth the extra £20 to have memory supplied and fitted by the manufacturer.

Even the memory for the new Mac Pros isn't stupidly expensive from Apple compared to other suppliers. Someone on here compared the cost of buying it from Apple or from a commonly used third party vendor and it was cheaper from Apple (although still not 'cheap').

mine was a base spec as in sig... but still 22 hrs thats fast

and yes apple's ram upgrade prices are no where near as bad as they used to be. Actually they are now quite competitive.

Still nothing, apples website just says 19th,nothing else, not even a tracking number, any ideas what courior apple use? So I can phone them? Also any pointers to any more detailed tracking info instead of just '19th' nice one apple.... :(

Thanks justin but no joy, I followed ur link, but I can't track the Irish website as I'm on iphone and TNT and ups had no joy, my status just reads 'delivery on schedule etc etc' on apples site, still no info on there of which courior, it's been like that for a week now, wtf surely it can't take a week to hand it to a curoior in uk,iv ordered stuff from hong kong off eBay that got here quicker, and with more tracking info.

Question....since these delivery time are so unpredictable....how does one get it delivered if he works 5 days a week? Do i have to get it delivered to work?

If it can only be delivered to billing address (as its logical since it costs so much), how on earth am i suppose to sign for it without taking a week's holiday ?

Exactly raymond, I happen to be on my last day of Easter holidays, watch it come thurs or fri :(, they say it will be here the 19th... This Sunday , utterly useless I'm never ever ever ever buy online from apple ever ever ever ever again, ill take the 3 hour drive to the nearest apple store and hope they have what config I want in stock, if they do balls up will they deliver on sat?

They do take a while.

My MacBook Pro came from Shanghai when I bought it and it took just over 2 weeks to get here. The status was the same as yours and updates itself once it arrives in the UK and is handed over to the courier. Once you get your tracking number for TNT or UPS expect it to arrive the next day.

Also, did you order any accessories as well as the Mac? That adds an extra amount of time to the order as they have to merge.

Really depends on where it is shipped from, my iMac came from the Czech Republic and MacBook Pro came from China.

I was under the impression that you can order a Mac and have it delivered to one of the Apple stores, then you can go and collect it if you wanted to.

TNT is the most likely, if you put the number into their tracking page then it'll tell you. Remember that Apple shipments are counted as international through TNT so you have to use the international tracking page.

Same happened to me. I think mine arrived at around 2 in the afternoon.
