First time build

Had a look at the Phanteks AMP GH 1000W and it looks good but the overclockers website says 3.0 but the phanteks website says 3.1 which do you think is right?

Had a good look at the montech psu's which seemed good and good prices but they have 4 x 8 pin connectors but on 2 cables so share the wattage so not good if i get a 9070 xt with 3 x 8 pin connectors.
ATX 3.x PSUs often have problems with limited PCIE 8-pin connectors/cables I'm afraid, but I think you'd be fine with 2 cables on a 9070 XT with a good PSU.

Looks like the Phanteks PSU comes with 4 PCI-E cables with 1 connector on each cable.

Yes the Phantek looks like a good option but there is another thread on this forum in the psu section mentioning the cable management is hard work because of individually textured cables.

You do have to do a bit of work to get them tidy, but i find them easier to work with as single cables lay flatter behind the motherboard tray and i think you get some cable combs to tidy what is on show.

ok, thanks so my options are :

Phanteks AMP GH 1000 W £129
NZXT C1000 (2024) 1000 W £156
Corsair RM1000x (2024) 1000 W £150-£165

which do you think is the best one not taking in to account the price difference or do you not see much difference between them, corsair and nzxt have 10 year warranty and the phanteks has 8 year.

Another question i have, is it possible to have 2 gpu's in my pc the 9070 xt and an older nvidia one, one to play modern games and one that is more compatible with the older ones, just wondering because i have quite a lot of older ones on steam and i have heard generally that NVIDIA is better than amd to play older games. would the drivers conflict with each other ?.

It's possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. AMD cards should be fine with almost all old games - I can't think of any that won't run on a 9070 XT that would be fine on an Nvidia card. It's the Intel GPUs that had some problems with older DX9 and earlier games. Perhaps that's what you were thinking of?

thanks for the reply, not sure where i read it as i have so many different things on the internet will researching my new pc build. in one of my older questions i mentioned that the overclockers website said the phanteks psu was 3.0 but i checked and they said it is 3.1 and have changed the info on the website so thats good, any thoughts ok my psu choices if the prices where all the same and do you think the phanteks having the 8 year warranty compared to the other having a 10 year warranty matters?.

hwbusters have reviews of all three (well, only the platform for the Phanteks).

I would say that the NZXT and Corsair are fairly similar (same OEM too) and are solid high tier units.

The Phanteks performs well enough and has good efficiency, but the short length does have compromises and the general tuning and part selection might not be as top notch as the other two.

SPL's tier list puts the Phanteks as A, whereas the other two are A+.

ok thanks, now i just someone who owns all three or has tested each specific unit to compare them.the phantek is about £20 cheaper, my initial thoughts was get the corsair but as i said in a previous post my last pc came with the RM550x and it stopped working but it did last 5 years so not sure how to decide.

Well, if you're not confident on the Corsair, in theory you'd need to discount the NZXT too, because the RMx line's OEM has been CWT from the beginning and the NZXT C-Series are almost all CWT too.

Personally, I don't like that Corsair dropped the -12v line from the RMx, just because of compatibility, so I'd lean toward the Phanteks.

Though, if I had the money, I'd get Antec's HCG Pro instead of all three, which is derived from Seasonic's Vertex. They're not cheap, but a fair number of been purchased on the forums and I haven't seen any complaints yet.

The Phanteks Platinum 1000W is fantastically priced and my go to if there's a little wiggle room, but if you want the best of the best right now you'll struggle to outdo the HCG Pro which uses the very capable Seasonic VERTEX PX platform.

I don't think there's anything higher end on the market right now for consumers, and the price if you look around isn't a total pee take either in honesty.
