I'm starting to buy PC parts for the first time and really need some advice or tips on what to build as I'm really not good at this. So far I've decided on the following:

CPU i7 8700k, MOBO Asrock Z370 taichi, COOLER Be Quiet Dark Rock 4, GPU 1080ti (not sure which brand though considering EVGA ftw), RAM Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB ddr4 (which i have already bought), STORAGE Crucial MX500 1TB (Which ive already bought), Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB M.2, TOSHIBA P300 3TB 7200rpm HDD, CASE Fractals R6 Design. Need a blu ray writer as i have games amd blu rays I'd like to watch/ play. No idea which psu i should buy.

I have also noticed that the i7 9700k is few £ cheaper than the i7 8700k. Is it worth getting it or should I stick to the original cpu I was looking at. If not which motherboard should i get? I would like something high end. Also i've noticed that the 1080ti is hard to get so are the rtx 2080 and rtx 2080ti worth a look? The maximum i want to spend is £3000 which includes a monitor (don't know which one to buy) and peripherals. Aside from 4k gaming I will be using Photoshop, perhaps GIMP and blender. Any help would be great.

If you plan on it being an intel build, I suggest getting one of their newest 9th gen chips as it'll probably perform better.

750w psu should be enough, but otherwise go for an 850. Antec/Seasonic are good brands for the psu, or if you want can spend a little extra on a corsair one

much better board ! aorus make one of the best z390 boards out there .
zotac 2080 has 5 year warranty

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,512.05 (includes shipping: £11.10)

(realised you've bought the ram so take it out. spend cash on GPU or Aorus Master board with wifi in stock)

if you want 60 fps 4k gameplay then you'll need to push 2080ti , true 4k card

BB CODE
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,883.98 (includes shipping: £23.10)
nice big 4k monitor so text doesn't appear tiny or image doesn't look like 1440p

4 year UK warranty on the Gigabyte card, could go zotac for £100 cheaper and 3 year uk and 2 yr hong honk ( i think unless now full cover in uk)

Wants some RGB , cooler master RGB 240 for £109 with digital RGB fans and pump unit :)

Don't forget to register 4th year warranty of the GPU!

Sure I'd like a little RGB in the case but I think AIO are a bit beyond me. I don't want anything to leak :s

At the moment nothing too intensive I'm playing civ 5. I would like to play Witcher 3, GTA V, Tomb raider series and civ 6

Ok for those sorts of games 60Hz should be ok. Other option would be to go for a 2560 x 1440 165Hz or 3440 x 1440 100Hz/120Hz etc if you also dabble in 1st person shooters.

Thanks for the tip. I do like battlefield 1, would a 60Hz monitor be terrible for that game?

Either 60hz gaming with 2080ti at 4k or 80fps+ with 1440p (standard or ultra wide) .

Can't gonwrgonwrong either way .

There's also article here for Freesync monitors working with Nvidia cards (often a lot cheaper !)

https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gp...sync_displays_look_like_with_g-sync_enabled/1

2080ti also makes damn nice ray tracing at 1080p or 1440p with BFV !!!

Considering that article would I be getting the best out of the 2080ti with a g sync monitor. I think I'll stick with the 4k as it works very well with Blender.

Try to find 28" one min for 4k .

Mind you, 2080ti has so much power at least, G-sync wouldn't be needed as much since average frame rate should be above 60fps and the 60hz range the monitor can display , without being crazy high for tearing to happen

That's good to know. As long as I don't get too much tearing and the monitor works well with drawing apps/programmes I'll be happy lol.

I've been looking at the AIO cooler master 240 RGB and I'm a little confused. Would it be best to place the radiator at the top?

can place it at front or top. what ever takes your fancy - not pushing for numbers so sticking up at the top would be fine and visually look the best :)

normally and alphacool eisbaer/bequiet Silent loop person but bit of ARGB does look nice now and again
