Fishing - Anybody doing any ?

Brighton marina would be difficult to fly fish as the steps climb up behind you. You won't be able to back cast.

Shoreham power station outfall at low tide is a good bet.

Tuesday waist deep in teignmouth spinning into the breaking waves caught a lovely schooly sea bass. Unfortunately someone fell off the cliffs so the helicopter and rnli and ambulances were everywhere. They cleared the beach.

Today a short mackerel boat trip out of Exeter. Lots of mackerel, gurnard and horse mackerel. Didn't puke bonus.

Considering asking for a Fladen floatation suit for birthday/chrimbo. It's supposedly the most advanced for the price level without stepping to the commercial use ones -basically the standard it sets is losing only 1.5degC of body temp being in a 5degC sea for an hour.

I do a lot of boat fishing, and I'm expecting to also do some rock fishing etc. Given I lost the feeling in my fingers for a week after one trip- I'm considering this for both angling and for astrophotography (been out in -19degC) where any wind/rain/temp gear is a bonus.

didnt fancy going thismorning then nick? i was considering going myself and offering to pick you up en-route as id go through your area.. it was the low tide being ~11am that put me off though,
next tuesdays looking good for weather, high tide @ 9:45am, could beat the rush hour traffic down there and fish from ~6am till early lunchtime

sounds like an eventful holiday, i presume the cliff jumper is no longer with us? :(

that was my first thought, but as long as you can get a bay to yourself a 45 degree cast should see a fly sent out far enough for a few mackerel
he'd need to go to the east wall though as the west gets packed due to the shorter walk

Hi - just saw this - can't do today unfortunately job hunting makes planning anything a pain as it ties me to the computer. Same with planning a trip for dinner with those I worked with - ended having to cancel due to an interview.

Lemme see about tues. On the first trip down I may just leave the complication and take a spinning rod and/or uptide.

Cainer - sent you an email in trust.

Well im having a horrid season this year only 5 bass caught. (pretty bad considering I fish about 3 times a week). Granted I have beaten my personal best twice so that is one positive Walney is fishing poor my main venue as I only drive a ped. I sometimes fish other areas but had so a bad season this year not been to motivated.

The BBC weather forecast for Brighton Marina is lashing rain tuesday. but they tend to change over time anyway.

I do find fishing in front of the south downs the predicted rain happens behind you. My missus will phone me saying it's tipping down and I'm sitting in glorious sun shine. However look behind me and it's dark rain clouds compressing over the downs.
