Fishing - Anybody doing any ?

Yup blown out :/

i hate that, especially if its been booked a long time in advance,
the last couple of times ive been out on the boat we just booked a couple of spaces on an individuals day ~48hrs before hand, that way you know the wind/weather will be ok

Hello guys,

Managed to find some time yesterday evening to go fishing. Went out hoping to catch a carp or at least a tench but ended up with 6 bream.

As lovely a fish as they are, i am on high elastic with a carp rig on so there was just no fight in it with them with the gear i am using.

Did have fighter on but i lost it, guessing it was carp or a decent size tench. Absolutely loved every second of it, everything seemed to come straight back to me from setting up the pole to handling the gear correctly etc.

Picture of one of the bream:

Managed to find my old Drennan feeder rod, could anyone here recommend me a decent reel? Around £30 mark would be nice. Cheers

What's wrecking?

I fished with my 10ft for the first time instead of the 13ft and felt much more comfortable with it. I also went to a new location and caught some of what I think we're smaller carp which have a bit more of a fight than the roach previously had which was nice.

Lovely day down the canal today. I wasn't going to go but my new box and sway bar turned up unexpectedly so I loaded up the car and went for an afternoon.

Much better. Not much in the way of actual, fish, just a couple of roach (although one was a corker of a roach), and I missed a few bites.

That's a nice bream Rybo :)

Much better. Not much in the way of actual fish as im in Manchester, just a couple shopping trolleys and corpses (although one was a corker of a blonde ;) ), and I missed a few special brew cans.

looks nice there :)

Thanks, sick of seeing them now though :p

Had a few nice bream, chub and roach. Finally managed to bag a Carp this morning, must have weighed a whopping half a pound, was a baby. I have had a big carp on, bailiff said he reckons it was 15+lb's but i lost it after about 3 minutes of fighting, due to my inexperience and the pole just being too short.

I bought a cheap Maver abyss 9m margin pole, going to upgrade that to a more premium 13m pole along with a new rod and reel when i get back from my holidays.

Went fishing again today and only caught about 6 and all were tiddlers unfortunately.

How can I get more power into my casts? I feel the lack of weight around the float/tackle is what's holding me back (im using just a normal crystal float).

It's usually a case of going for a heavier float if you want to cast a bit further.

I always use Drennan wagglers. Loaded wagglers are good, saves you fannying about with loads of shot. What sort of depth are you fishing at? Is it larger Roach you're after or just larger fish in general?

I have some loaded but haven't tried them yet. It's about 2-3ft normally where I go and I'm just after larger fish in general as I find roach aren't giving much of a fight tbh.
