*** Flatout Ultimate Carnage (PC) - The Official Thread ***

played a few tracks i'm fairly pleased with the game itself. a lot more effort has gone into this than i thought. a lot more scenery has been added to the FO2 tracks and the look is quite different. i think it's worth the money.

however i'm slightly ******* off that i can't seem to change any controls on my 360 pad. i don't want to use the flippin triggers to accelerate/brake.

oh and 8xAA is an absolute killer. ran fine on FO2 but absolutely grinds to a halt on this. :p

8xAA should not be a killer, its deffenitly a bug with the game or drivers, its 60solid here but randomly drops to 25fps with 8xAA.

with 8xAA, it's pretty sluggish full stop for me. i certainly don't get anywhere near 60fps. :p (1680x1050, 4850@stock, vista 64, 8.7s yada yada)

edit: getting a little slowdown in places with 4xAA  guess i'll have to try 2x. :p

edit2: just noticed if you browse the folder in program files and goto into music, the songs are all there in .ogg format. :)

tracklist if anyone is interested.

Might have to buy a copy since only £15.00, could someone confirm online is now 12 player instead of 8 player like the old one?

Good game.

Very much similar to FO2 but a lot better on the graphics. Gonna get some LAN going on when the boys come round tomorrow. :D

Does this have the Carnage mode that the X360 version had?

Super hardcore mode tbh :D

there is a carnage mode on the ingame menu but i don't have enough points to access it yet. :o

back to gpu performance.....my framerate isn't totally smooth even at 2xAA. i'm really surprised by this given how well the original FO2 was coded (used to run it maxed out with no AA on a 7600gs FFS). something must be wrong here?? i can't believe i might have to compromise on the detail settings with my shiny new 4850. :p

Its buggy or the drivers are buggy of course our cards could easilly run this, like I've said with 4800 series cards you should be getting like 50-100fps with 8xAA.

The game runs great on my system but it keeps causing my display divers to crash?? I have a 3870 with the latest ati 8.7 driivers and CCC??

**** me. the cars available at the start are so slow it's impossible to keep up. i've had to resign myself to the fact i'm not going to win every race. and the emphasis so far is definitely on racing. one crash off the track and you're screwed. or maybe F02 was just far too easy..... :p

Are you talking about the career mode? If so it's definitely possible to win all the early races, at least I managed it and I wouldn't consider myself particularly good at these sorts of games! It does seem a bit harder than FO2 though.

well i'm alright now - on to the 3rd tier of the derby class and have unlocked some faster cars. it's much easier now. but yup i was struggling at the start of career mode. i know the tracks inside out from FO2 (having said that, there are some subtle differences) like i said, i just couldn't keep up - especially with lei bing who was always miles ahead.... :o

I understand the music is in ogg format, and I know how to convert MP3 to OGG format but how would I get the game to read my custom OGG files?
