Focus CC3

Thanks Kev, good to hear something positive. Sometimes I wonder if this is a millionaires playground and not a PC parts forum!

Its not just that mate, when you're spending £15k on a convertible (if thats how much it is new, I think it is? correct me if wrong), you're well into the territory of damn good cars, I would buy a Z4 for that money. A Focus CC doesnt even come close.

I think it's the coolest car that I've ever driven

And this is the problem. To be as impressed as you are with a Focus Cabrio, the cars you've driven previously must be pretty average. Not exactly a bad thing, but something you must bear in mind. You love it because of the novelty, not because its a good car. You desperately need to drive some more cars before parting with a huge amount of money. There are considerably better cars out there.

and given thats it'll be the first time I've bought new it's the car of snazzy little car that I'm happy to part with serious money for.

Serious money and Ford Focus is not something which should ever be found in the same thread. Serious money buys serious cars.

Then thats all that matters mate! What engine did you try?
Well it was the top of the range 2.0 tdci and when we sat down and spoke about it afterwards that was the car that he gave me a price for, something which I hope I can knock him down on a bit. I'd be a mug not to try!

One concern was the sound of the diesel engine when we were stood outside of it although I couldn't hear it when I drove it with the top up and the top down. Added to that what car suggests that the petrol version is "slow", so anything less than the car that I've test driven would be a no-goer.

they're ugly as sin

^^^^

I've only seen one on the road, the front and 3/4 side profile look acceptable, its the rear end thats just wrong, when the boot looks longer than the bonnet you know you've got a styling problem, its got Lexus SC430 syndrome.

You're probably right but that sized car doesn't really appeal to me. What I like about the CC3 is that it looks like a normal sporty car (to me) with the top up and hey presto you can peel it back and it just adds an extra dimension. Bear in mind that my car history is Metro, Sierra, Mondeo, Focus, Megane and you'd probably understand why this might appeal to me!

I really can't see that. I've got the brochure in my hands here and it looks like a nice car!

Like most tintop cabs you need a huge space to fit the folding roof in also to make the roof as small as possible you need to extend the A pillar overhang, tbh its not just to CC3 thats go this issue its most other tintop cabs, from a side profile i just think they look odd, whats worse with the ford is not only does the side view of the rear 1/3 look out of shape but the rear view looks horrid.

I can see the appeal of a metal folding roof but after putting up with all the flaws with a friends Megan cab at work i'd rather not bother and get a proper softop instead.

the only one of these cc type cars that looks any way presentable in the eos and it has a half decent engine of you get the 2.0 turbo

the magane and focus cc just have a horrible profile..the 307/308 always look a bit bulbous and none have really decent poke

What is an "actually nice car"? And what do you think that that will achieve for me other than to create doubt in my mind about a car that I think is nice? Keep in mind that if I buy this car that I intend to pay for it, not to finance it and I'm not looking to spend too much more than £12,000. This Focus ticks most of the boxes that I'm looking for, feels like a nice car to drive and looks the part as far as I'm concerned. If you're suggesting that I try a car that costs twice as much to buy or that I go for a second hand car than there's no point.

And this time around I want a new car, thats why I'm not interested in second hand.

i can understand where you're coming from, but would you not have a problem with buying an inferior product purely because it's new?
i suggest you at least go and have a look at other options and drive them, especially as you said yourself you don't have experience with good cars ;)

Inferior? There's nothing wrong with this car for the money for what I can see.

Becuase as I've constantly pointed out to you throughout this thread, you have never driven anything better. I could go into Halfords and ride a £50 bicycle and claim there is nothing wrong with it that I can see. This is because I've never ridden a decent bike so I'm ignorant as to what else exists.
