Good efforts, everyone! Here is my milestone tiffy, yet again, taken after it has been passed -_-;:

Unfortunately, it was not a happy week at the farm for me. Production fell off a bit and I had some teething problems with the second crunching rig. :C I'm looking to address those and stabilise my production again in the coming month.

Congrats guys, and thanks for the news :D

I had a couple of pesky power outages Friday night/Saturday morning :(
My UPS caught the first one and hibernated my computer nicely - but then refused to wake up when the power came back on (I now reckon it's because the power wasn't fully back on - other people were having issues where they could watch TV but not boil a kettle, very odd), so I bypassed it and plugged straight into the mains (rookie mistake) and woke it up, but we had another one half an hour later
Fortunately when I turned it back on in the morning (the UPS was working again then too :)) it hadn't bricked the P6701 it'd spent the previous 35 hours folding

35 hours seems a bit excessive for a p6701 miniyazz? I'm completing them in around 21 hours or so with around 6000ppd. I've the occasional power outage called girlfriends parents as they seem to think the plug is an acceptable manner to turn the computer off when its left to fold.

Lol, that must suck :D

Yup it's a bit low 'cause I'm only at 3.8 and only using two cores. I've got enough headroom to be using a third most of the time but what with Kaspersky (usually only a problem at 2 in the morning when it does its scanning thing), the FF bug I have (where it maxes out one core for a few seconds every now and again when it's been running for a while with lots of tabs) and two GPU clients, it suits me better this way for the moment!
My AV is due for renewal in a couple of weeks though, I reckon I'll switch to Comodo and see how things are - who knows, I might be bold and go for using three cores again ;)

off topic

Hi miniyazz - I used to use Comodo firewall their AV isn't rated.
I currently use ESET Nod 32 + windows firewall + router firewall.
MSE is good for free or Panda Cloud. Avira Premium is rated higly not sure if it includes a firewall. Otherwise Norton has improved or if you like to tweak & have loads of options try Online Armor++. supposed to be v good
As a secondary anti malware I'm on a free trial of Hitman Pro [don't forget to activate the license in settings] & have found it gets rid of a lot Adaware leaves behind.
Hope this helps, & that you get the rig running the way you want.

When you say "isn't rated", do you mean in the regular AV testing that AV comparatives do?
Be that as it may, it is highly regarded by Rainmaker (see Official OcUK AV thread) who spends considerable time testing AVs and is a strong advocate of the multi-layered approach (e.g. default-deny unless known, sandbox in case anything does get through).

MSE is OK, but between bugs with folders containing large numbers of files and Microsoft's refusal to update its database to include all their encountered viruses (e.g. email to Microsoft: look, MSE let this virus through; reply: well you should have paid for our proper AV, that would have caught it), I can no longer recommend it to anyone. I've not come across Panda Cloud or Online Armor, but Avira is indeed meant to be good.

Norton has improved somewhat but still behind Kaspersky/Nod32 I think; plus I just don't trust it to remove itself when I want it gone!

As a matter of fact the only reason I'm switching from paid (e.g. Kaspersky) to free AV is because Comodo is meant to be so effective.

Thanks for the pointers :)

Hi Miniyazz - Haven't seen Comodo reviewed that much & didn't know there was an AV forum here:o Can't remember the link to a site that does comparative tests but it pops up on google.
Had watched these reviews
http://www.youtube.com/user/languy99#p/u/3/Bj_Tg8EeY-s
That's for Comodo which I just seen. So it would appear my info is out of date:o There are 3 videos comparing Comodo to Norton.
Had not been aware of www.virustotal.com before
Agree that Norton can be **** to remove had the same problem with Bitdefender.
I'm not saying MSE is the best just for freeware & easy to use it is better than some out there.
My Nod32 expires in Jan so might give this new comodo a try myself [as well as check out the AB forum, ta for the pointer]:)

Let us know how you get on.

I used comodo for a year without any nasties getting through.
But am very careful online anyway, so not really a good test.

Oh and back on topic - I've a 460 arriving soon, will see how much juice she uses.
If to much, and any of you have a 450 with a black or blue pcb will be looking to swap.

Good effort all round but I'm afraid Biffa is proving to be very demotivating:( :p

I've got my 3 GPU's working happily today so my PPD should be better over the coming week. Still peanuts, but a steady increase.
