Still with only a 9K drop on last week's production they must have all been terribly slack :p

Congrats on a huge output this week dunc - I guess that's the HT kicking in and really helping with those small WUs

Conc I've kept you in the list as we know your output is mainly from the one machine but in weeks where you're showing 3 clients or more I won't be giving you a ranking - think that's the fairest I can be to everyone involved :)

accepting you into the beta group is as easy as someone adding you to the beta usergroup on the folding forums (thus enabling you to see the hidden beta forum - just like the Members Market section here) - then it's just a case of finding out the beta setting for the client and the next WU you download on that/those clients should be beta

no need to download anything else - and i've already said more than i should :o :p
all i will say is that you have total control over which clients may get beta WUs and which don't :)

ahhh I feel your pain with that one - I used to have the same with the kids, they also used to alt-tab out of games so they were still running in the background :o :mad:

sounds like a perfect excuse to get an extra rig to me ;) :D

I could also cut it off after 50 entries but I'd rather stick with the 1,000 (or almost) points that it has been since I've started

any feedback happily received :)

edit: I also prefer the news with the darker background - might have to "quote" the news from now on :p

I'll have a play with both methods and see which comes out the best :)

hehe no worries - figured you must have been busy when you didn't show up to post after I'd dropped your name a couple of times :D

we swapped cells a few times over the couple of days, think i'm stuck in this one for quite a while now :o ;)

Extra SSE boost OK.

message at the start of the WU (or each time you start the client) then it's going as fast as it can - my X2 hates standard Gromacs WUs and that 404 pointer sounds familiar as being even worse than most :o

This is just about the worst build EVER!
I simply cannot get XP onto it :confused:
I've got a CD-ROM and a DVD-RW Combo drive A new Samsung SpinPoint hard disk and an old Quantum Fireball hard disk and no matter what combination it crashes somewhere during the copying of the windows files before starting the windows installer. :(

I had problems with my new Samsung drive - think it was DOA as I ordered another and that worked fine

The basic rule I use when installing XP is to have the least amount of stuff necessary to get the thing installed - then add/improve later, slacken the RAM timings off as much as possible and disable any onboard kit you won't need for the install. Also if you've not tried already then try with just one stick of ram, if that doesn't work then just try the other instead - also try the ram in different slots

unlucky - don't suppose you had a backup client with some deadlineless work stashed away on it?

I still run backup clients on all my main crunchers from back in the day of unreliable internet (56K or just dodgy USB Broadband) guess it's just force of habit - plus if I didn't have backup clients it'd be tempting Murphy's Law terribly :o :p


250mm fan? Hot Air-ballooning anyone? :D
