Right, just added 7 dual Xeon 3Ghz crunchers to the fold - running 4 processes on each due to HT.
Fantastic. :)
You'll be up there with the big boys in no time. :p

Can't find my collective core/p6 name, its really bugging me now, but i'll call it core for the time being. You can take a look at it so far in the quick guide here.

Edit: I think i'll need to split the p6/core sections anyway so thats solves that problem.

Are the xeons doing anything apart from folding if so lose one thread and just run the three (will solve a lot of headaches in the not to distant future)

Quick question though, Benchmarking these, the max ppd I get per core on 1495 is around 115, the lowest being 89ppd. This seem right? either 1Gb or 2Gb of mem in each box.
Sounds abit low - might be a ram issue if your running 4 threads or just a poor WU on those cores.

for now just run services.msc and stop one of the services, you can also set it to "manual" so it won't start itself the next time the computer is rebooted

you can remove the service totally by re-running the config
That's it. Tell it to not install the program as a service when doing -configonly.

Treason!!!!!
He's removing 1 of 4 of his iterations of folding on hyper threaded dual xeons, because having 4 iterations is clogging it up too much. It will probably increase his output by removing one of them. ;)

Booting from a pen drive perhaps?
damn small linux or something similar - mister KE1HA is the specialist when it comes to this and you're in luck as the doctor is in the house :D

it may be in the sticky - if not it was definately in the old sticky which is safely stored away in the TOSAH archives :)

edit: looky over here

You can grab old harddisks of 'that auction site' for very little money, if thats all thats holding you back ;)
Certainly a lot less hassle than installing linux on a memory stick.
If you do want to use a memory stick, the guys over at the tech report have someone whos an expert and has made a program to do it. I'll find you a link if you decide you want to give it a try or you can just drop into their folding forum as i think its in there somewhere.

Here's the stuff I slapped together a few months back for DSL on USB Keys:

DSL USB Key Mini How Too

Download this file, it has all you need to get a USB key going using DSL:

BZ2 File

The file contains the following:
--> DSL-1.2.1.iso < you could use the lastest version instead>
--> Burncdcc.exe < Free, Small, Fast, Easy Windows Application for Burning ISO’s>
--> dsl-Linux-usbkey.pdf < The instructions >.

I really need to finish this off, but with my move to CA, time has been very limited for these types of projects.

[EDIT-1]
Forgot to add this bit it. Here's a link to a Diskless folding server, using Damn Small Linux as the base. I have not tried it rescently, but worked with the guy who was writing it all up initially, worked pretty slick. It's a PXE / TFTP boot setup.

Folding Server - How-Too

Here's a Quote from his site:

The purpose of this distribution is to deliver a payload; the included payload is designed to be a Folding@Home client. Folding@Home is not actually included due to licensing restrictions, but there is a script which retrieves the client and associated cores. More information on Folding@Home and how to put together the client is included in the documentation. All the pieces are assembled, and there are only two scripts to run before it's ready. It's easy to work with, and a fully working Folding@Home server can be assembled in about an hour if you read all the documentation, or half an hour if you skip all the junk you know already.
[/EDIT-1]

[EDIT-2]
Here's the another really slick applicaiton, called Finstall.

Quote from their Wiki:

Finstall is a BASH-based script created by IvoShiee to be used in conjunction with the FAH program.

With Finstall, the FAH client can run without you doing anything except running your computer!

[/EDIT-2]

Good Luck.
