3,200 is impressive for a single machine! I have 4 going, and am lucky to get 4000 in a week these days!

All hail Concorde :)
and for the first time since the competition started there's actually no doubt that it is just his X2 this week
Active processors (within 7 days) 2
 :p
no little donations from part time old slow macs this week - he truly has got a very crunchy single machine

hey concorde

what spec/speed X2 you running?
it's an X2 3800 (cut-down Toledo core) at 2.5GHz, also the speed he has his RAM at and the tight timings will make a big difference

also no doubt he's got it doing beta work which is mainly Double-Gromacs WUs at the moment which the X2s and A64s love

my X2 3800 is at stock with RAM at PC3200 and 2.5 3 3 8 timings and i need another couple of old XP rigs to get about even with conc's weekly output :o

What sort of input is expected from a beta tester?
just reporting any problems you've experienced really with enough detail to give them a fighting chance to try and work out what is wrong

personally I've not had to report anything for a good few months - the last thing was a WU which seemed to have extremely low points for how long it was taking so several people along with me posted details of the machines and what ppd they were getting and the points got increased to bring it in line with similar projects

application is made by posting in this thread which also includes a lot more information about what to expect and what is expected of you - they also ask that you write a short statement of what you can bring to the beta team (basically to weed out the people who don't have the attention to actually read the whole of the thread :p)

Please only join if you have regular access to any machines you will be running beta work on - don't worry you can specify which machines get which work so it's not an "all or nothing" kinda deal

I may have to join the Beta too if the points are much better. I spent half the week crunching a couple of 400ish point wus that took forever :(
yeah i think I had a couple of those as the first WUs that the X2 picked up - both were normal Gromacs WUs and just seemed to take forever for not really enough points :o
ah well at times like that you just have to think of the science and hope for something good next

you can still pick up some good Double Gromacs work without joining the beta team though - I seem to be having a run of these 99 pointers on my X2 now which give me about 500PPD across the two cores (so those alone would give 3,500 for the week  )

Best wishes to your daughter sculptor - hope she gets better soon :)

and yes Mister Berserker very nearly had me until the X2 started getting decent work - it's only a matter of time but I'm hoping I can stay in the top 10 if I can just catch ShaunBrewer (can't remember the last time we saw him here - hope all's well with him too) before the don sticks his boot in :o

Shaun if you're out there mate I hope you're seeing the great progress the team has made - who'd have foreseen that you and I would be battling it out for 10th? :D

I expect some of the instability is down to the couple of pretty warm (at least by UK standards) days we've had in the last week

Concorde said his machine had been crashing due to the heat pushing it over the edge with the overclock. I even lost the old XP2100 this week as it started chucking out EUE's left right and centre even though it's at stock - not totally sure that's down to heat, more likely it's a problem with the teenage boy making the thing a virus/spyware haven :o. My girlfriend's machine also locked up a couple of times so I upped the fans a bit and that seems to have sorted it

Edit: What makes its worse is I game on here, how is one core kicking all your a****?
Double Gromacs Beta WUs plus high system clocks plus low latencies - still my best guess

oh and a mac on the side :o
I really think you have to declare your weekly mac production if you want to stay in the single crunchers - hardly cricket is it? :p

hmmm i should knock 33% off for the third core - it's only fair :p
i bet you'd still be winning though

you do realise that everyone else on the list also has to use their single machine for all sorts of work/play uses don't you? :o
i don't want you to stop crunching on the mac but i also don't think it's fair on the rest of the single crunchers if you have more than one machine crunching - pretty simple rule really

edit: it's only really an issue now that people are getting close to your weekly production - previously I've not bothered as even if we'd taken off what work the mac had probably done you'd have still been way out in the lead anyway
I'll see how close it is this friday and we'll go from there :)

congrats on the tiffy conc - very spangly :)

odd about the third client showing if you've not dumped any mac work in 8 days - you're not running a backup client on the X2 are you?
I run 2 clients at "low" priority and a 3rd client at "idle" with deadlineless work to fill any gaps - only works out to an extra few ppd but every little helps
