Football 5th-6th Feb 2011 **SPOILERS**

Just a couple links I found after looking for the video:

http://dai.ly/guD3bN -Diaby slow motion tackle

http://dai.ly/i06maW - Challenge on Arshavin

And Newcastle fans as well as the numerous Arsenal haters can say both tackles were fine? Barton should have had a yellow card for each of those and should have been sent off. Nolan should also have seen red and one of the penalties was given for absolute no reason other than Phil Dowd is a useless ****.

Hah, Newcastle fan in "sticking up for terrible Barton challenges" shocker. The speed at which he went into the challenge was an absolute joke, you can have a hard and fair challenge without charging in with two feet at 200mph. Barton is pretty disgusting and it's sad that Newcastle will now be relying on an average player to get them through this season, especially in the knowledge that Mike Ashley isn't going to give them **** all money to replace Carroll anyway. Good luck in staying in the prem because you won't get two dodgy penalties, a jammy bounce and a wonder goal week in week out. ;)

The speed at which he went into the challenge?

Do me a favour lol.

If it was any player other than Barton it would be a non-story also if it wasn't against Arsenal whose fans (not all of you but a lot of you!) whine and disemble and try to pin the blame on anything other than their own shortcomings.

If that's a red card challenge these days we may as eel save ourselves the hassle of years of debate and make the game non contact.

And yes we will struggle to stay.up we knew that from day one we are nit deluded like the gunners thinking they can actually win a title again with such a poor defense and flaky midfield.

I think you should take a look at the two videos I just posted, and then take your black and white head out of your ass. Both worthy of yellow cards and Barton shouldn't have even been on the pitch in the second half because of them.

Two good tackles If I am honest, I'd like to see some United players going in like that, there is leaving the ground (two footed, lunging, knee height over the ball a la Gerrard) and leaving the ground, (one foot extended, winning the ball about and inch and a half in the air, normal tackling).

Shhhhhhh!!!

Don't let common sense interfere with a good whine! What is the world coming too when you stick up for a player who tackles! Naughty lad!

Don't start with the old 'Arsenal haters' routine, it's just opinions. He went through the back of Arshavin, I could see that one being a yellow, the first one though is just like the link before. From it we can all see that a) the ball was there to be won b) he didn't go in two footed in any sense other than the fact he actually has two feet c) he actualy begins to pull out as soon as he has won the ball but newtonian physics mean he obviously still had forward momentum d) Why exactly should he have bailed out of the tackle? Why couldn't Diaby pull out after seeing he wasn't going to win the ball?

Pause it at 10 seconds in. Barton's already won the ball before Diaby arrives with an outstretched leg.

I could understand if he got a yellow for the this tackle but only because the rules of the game state you can't tackle from behind. As it was he got done by Arshavin's turn but clearly pulled out of the tackle before sliding in to him.

Agree, excellent tackle. Will be a sad day in football if we add strong tackles to the ever increasing list of tackles that are being banned.

This, cracking tackle.

He lost the ball, was in funny stance so Barton went to win the ball and he did.

Okay well I don't think this Barton discussion is going to go anywhere productive. I think my opinion is the right one, you guys think your opinion is the right one, that's where it ends for me. There's no point dragging it out so I'll just agree to disagree.

I don't see any issue with the tackle on Diaby, Barton clearly got to the ball first and didn't have to go through the player to get to it.

It was a 50/50 ball, Diaby's touch let him down and he wasn't really on the ball when Barton came in.

After Barton has taken the ball cleanly, his momentum takes him through Diaby, but if you look at the reply - it's Barton's shin that makes contact with Diaby's leg as his feet are not pointing up. So no studs.

However, on Arshavin - that was clearly a foul and free kick to Arsenal.

Then get yourself along to the opticians with Arsene. Dear me we all seem to be turning into Wenger-esque foreigners where any challenge that touches the man when taking the ball is a red card omgwtfhorrendoushowdareyou challenge

it was a hard challenge but fair.

Consistency my dear friend, if Diaby was sent off, so should Nolan and Barton for their violent and disgusting conduct. It's a bit rich how you're asking people to see an optometrist. Perhaps you should remove those rose coloured glasses.

Celtic keeper been sent off down to 10men.

1 - 1 at the moment. Pen not taken yet.

edit: Rangers 2 - 1

Not that it bothers me that you've posted in here at all but if you look a bit further down the page there's actually a SPL thread where you might get a bit more of a reaction rather than us bickering about some bloody tackles ;)

Anyways wouldn't a broken leg be better for arsenal unless arsene made he play in a cast:p

ps for the grumpy folk out there i do not justify a brokn leg

:p

I guess, most of the time Diaby is gash, he's just really frustrating in the fact he'll take it brilliantly past two or three players and then just run into a static player and lose the ball.
