Football 5th-6th Feb 2011 **SPOILERS**

Just watching the replay this morning, I'm amazed how Arsene hasn't bought some glasses yet, I mean, he misses a lot of things.

I was sat in the upper tier of the gallowgate end, and could see diaby throw his toys out of the pram from there, and Wenger was half a pitch away and couldn't see it :p

Just watching MoTD now. Motson is totally losing it. On VdV's retaken penalty, he says "He's cross Van der Vaart, because he put the first one away implicitly". Implicitly? What? He implied that he scored but didn't say so outrightly? Motson, stop saying words!

I was out so hadn't seen it but i have to say that looked a real good tackle to me, ball was there to be won and he took it, hard but fair. Were there afters or something?

I don't blame Diaby for wanting to smash Bartons head in, I thought thought was a bad challenge and could easily have injured him. Nolan should have gone for wrestling the 'keeper aswell.

Agree 100%. Very poor tackle from Barton, could have easily done a lot of damage if Diaby wasn't as hard as nails!

Can't believe that we ended up drawing, especially as Newcastle had one generous penalty and one other penalty which wasn't even a penalty and a massive stroke of luck from Best.

Also, their free kick which led to what was admittedly an awesome strike shouldn't have been, pretty sure I was watching it yesterday and it was pretty clear the free kick shouldn't even have been given. Phil Dowd really is a **** ref, it's not just Arsenal he's screwed over but if I remember rightly he was shocking in a Spurs game not so long ago too.

Actually... you can use implicitly in that context. :p

Motty 1 - 0 manic111

Very strange to watch that game as my new found dislike for Newcastle seems to over ride my dislike for Arsenal  Just didn't enjoy Barton & Co pulling that back to 4-4... no matter how good it was to watch the goons throw away a 4-0 lead. Barton seems to genuinely try to injure other players and he's rubbing off on Nolan too.

What was wrong with that tackle? Just rewatched it and once he's made contact with the ball he actually brings his foot down, he doesn't leave it high he just goes into diaby with his momentum.

*at 10 seconds in the video you can see him put his foot down before contact was made.

Yep, Barton actually looked shocked that Diaby might be in any way upset with the challenge. I also can't believe Barton said on MoTD that he went it "one footed" it was clearly two footed he just ****ing lunged in, I'm not condoning Diaby's reactions but you can easily see why he'd be ****ed off. Nolan should have had a red as well for pulling Szczesny down too.

I agree, it was a fair tackle. Hard but nothing wrong with it by the letter of the law.

What do I know though, my command of the English language is worse than John Motson's!

Then get yourself along to the opticians with Arsene. Dear me we all seem to be turning into Wenger-esque foreigners where any challenge that touches the man when taking the ball is a red card omgwtfhorrendoushowdareyou challenge

it was a hard challenge but fair.
What are you talking about? Watch that clip 5 times in a row, it gets worse everytime you see it. Personally I wouldn't have grabbed Barton by the neck, I would have have made sure Barton didn't finish that game without at least 4 stud holes in him though.

Thought I'd pop in to the thread today to see of drunkenmaster had spontaneously combusted after yesterday's performance, but apparently not:p

The Barton tackle was hard but fair. However, looking at the way Diaby's leg goes over, bearing in mind he's not looking at his foot, it probably did feel like a bad challenge. I'm not trying to justify it, he deserved the red, but when someone like Barton comes flying in to you you're always expecting the little **** to be late/high.

And what was the Szczesny yellow card for, not giving the ball back? Surely as NUFC had just scored, the ball should be in our possesion anyway for the kick off.

Hah, Newcastle fan in "sticking up for terrible Barton challenges" shocker. The speed at which he went into the challenge was an absolute joke, you can have a hard and fair challenge without charging in with two feet at 200mph. Barton is pretty disgusting and it's sad that Newcastle will now be relying on an average player to get them through this season, especially in the knowledge that Mike Ashley isn't going to give them **** all money to replace Carroll anyway. Good luck in staying in the prem because you won't get two dodgy penalties, a jammy bounce and a wonder goal week in week out. ;)
