I am split, I love the game itself...but I hate most football fans or rather hate that they have to be so overbearing about their passion. My main gripe is the fans that talk about it ALL day, everyday. I have a colleague at work who literally talks about football for almost 7/8 hours of our shift every day, and I promise I am not exaggerating at all. Then there's the stupid voice that people put on when chanting, why can't they bloody cheer normally lol!! I could go on but that's not what the thread was about lol.

In regards to gaming, I love FIFA and PES, but haven't played them for a good few years now (98 indoor football mode anyone hehe)

I LOVE football. Eat, breath football. But none of my friends like it. I think we speak about it for 5 minutes tops each time we meet. 1 friend likes football, but he supports Juve, and I support Roma, so we just end up arguing against each other. We speak about it a bit, talk in general and we are done.

If I manage to find someone who is really interested, I can go about it all day :p

Here are a few videos which show the passion of football for me

Just look how happy everyone is! The passion that goes into the game. The moment the team scores everybody goes INSANE. Football provides moments of pure ecstasy. For a few minutes you forget everything around you and you just push your team to victory.

People say they hate the 'their' mentality. Its a 12th man things. You are part of the club. You buy tickets, you buy merchandise, which ultimately helps with the running of the club. Fair enough you are not playing, you are not coaching either, but you helped them on.

Non-football fans thing I am mad, but its passion. Personally, I have not gone out numerous times to watch football games (have't missed a Roma game in 5 years I think). I missed some friends birthday parties (not good friends. was gonna missa game for a friend's party but I managed to see like 6- minutes of it there, saw the rest at home).

I used to watch 6 games a week on Sunday.

I might be crazy, but trust me, there is worse.

If someone understand italian, this explains it well

I love watching it
I love playing it
I love playing games about it
I love reading football news everyday
I love life and football is life!

That's how much I feel about football lol

I like football, I find those that say they hate it just say so to look "cool" which doesn't really work. They often say Rugby is better when you know they have never watched a single game or even know a single team apart from England. Im not crazy about football I just follow my team(wolves), some premier league and some cup competitions. Theres not much that can beat the joy of watching your team score/win especially in rival games or against the big dogs.

But Rugby *is* better.... :p

My Dad was a Wolves fan. Grew up there, so that makes sense. I remember him always talking about Steve Bull. We often argued over the merits of each sport... But then, he hated boxing too, so we never had a sport in common.

There's a hundred things I could suggest that give me more joy the watching someone kill a ball into a net.......

football is just slow and boring.

Some people I know say they only watch football for 'something to talk about'

Which sounds to me more like they do it to fit in and feel accepted into a group :(

I used to play football every day when I was at school.
I don't think I ever really supported a team. It felt more like I was just trying to fit in by saying I supported a team when really I didn't have much interest in watching/supporting anyone.
I also had one of those football sticker books where your parents had to pay huge amounts for a small pack of stickers and you could do swapsies with your mates at school. I think that was more of a social thing to fit in with others.
Looking back on it, it seems pretty poor that as a kid so much of my parents money was spent on crap and also bad that I felt I had to try to fit in or be 'normal' :(

 damn I hate football :p haha

Only joking, I think hate is a bit strong for something that makes other people seem so happy, different strokes etc.

"as a gamer" tho I think ... o no wait

Lost interest in it the past few years, still watch the odd game but focus my attention more on other sports like ice hockey or rugby.

Haven't played any FIFA or football games properly in a long time either.

Don't like the sport because it's so boring to watch, but have no hate for it, however the fans on the other hand... worse than MMA fans.

What's wrong with those guys?
Don't they just wear big foam pointy hands and sit in the corner, quietly drooling over Gina Carano... or is that just me? :D

I jest, I jest... I've only ever watched eight MMA fights all the way through (and only because I Googled Gina Carano last night). ;)

Have zero interest in Football unless it's the World Cup. Much like I don't have any interest in 100m sprint or javelin or whatever unless it's the Olympics.

I watch it for the spectacle, and because it's at world class level.

I used to love football as a kid, played in the park all the time, collected Panini stickers and was glued to the TV on Saturdays. However over the years I've just lost interest, I'm still more than happy to sit and watch a game but I don't go out out of my way to watch any.

I love football as a game, and playing games like Fifa.

I stopped following professional football however until the latter half of this season.

Take Manchester City, this is in no way the same team (More importantly club, it's not the same club) that people would have supported 5 years ago, and for me it's things like that which take away from it.

If Middlesbrough suddenly had a couple of billion pumped into it, I'd struggle to support them, as they'd no longer resonate with me. They'd just me a money rolled team which just so happens to be local.

Pretty much the same as this.

Tournaments like World Cup and the Euros i do follow though. I also read the sports section about football in the paper sometimes when i take a dump.
