Football Banter Thread

Not necessarily banter but can someone explain to me why people think Shane Long is a good footballer? In years of seeing him play I've yet to see a anything that would suggest he is a top half player and he rarely scores. Yet people banging on about him being great and getting linked with decent sides in premier league

Even playing at Soton I wouldn't rate him good enough for them! West Brom was his level and really don't understand how he has risen beyond that.

Hard work, basically. He chases everything down and allows a side to push midfield and defence further up.

He's not good enough in terms of stats but allows a different style of play.

Shane Long unsettles defences and creates room for others, there's never a ball he isn't chasing down, he never allows you any time on the ball. It's what he's doing off the ball that highlights his value when you watch him alongside players like Mane and Pelle, who only seem interested if they actually have the ball most of the time.

10 goals and 4 assists aren't exactly crap stats either considering that's from 23 starts and a handful of sub appearances.

I think we'd miss his presence 10 times more than Mane, I'm looking forward to seeing him play alongside Austin, the space he'll create for him should see Austin firing goals in.

Bizarre actions, he will have had to pay for someone to print that i would imagine, surprised a company actually did it.

Either way the guy is obviously a first class ****, glad he's getting the backlash he is.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that he got arrested over that disgraceful t-shirt. Hopefully they chop his nuts off.

Probably more to do with Jose being distracted by this over the summer when he's trying to build a team at man united more than 'caring' as such.

Ah that's a good point actually, didn't consider that

That said I doubt mourinho would ever give a **** lol
