Football Banter Thread

Has Cosimo / Spamulatorman come in and posted the news about Liverpool making a loss of £49 million today?

Has Baz arrived to tell everyone that there is nothing to worry about?

Would laugh so hard if UEFA stopped Liverpool getting in the champions league this year. The one year they finally do well and have an excellent season.

The other alternative is Liverpool get 4th and we win the Champions League, again, stopping them getting in.

Oh man, I'd take relegation for that second one to happen :D

How long will it be before Tummy announces for the 1000th time that he's not posting in here again?;)
Problem is they have failed the FFP, so its what will Uefa do?

Have they? These are our overall accounts with lots of expenses that aren't counted towards ffp. For example, over the last 2 years around £50m has been spent writing off old stadium costs. You then have all the costs around the current stadium plans, youth investment and so on. City, losing £100m's, think they'll meet ffp, I don't think we have any worries in that case.

That said this is a bigger loss than I expected, partially down to the clubs decision to further write down player values (Carroll, Downing etc I would imagine).

Nothing, £50 fine at best. They would need to grow massive balls to exclude some of the biggest clubs in the world. Won't happen. They have spent years making a competition that makes International football look like championship football. They won't have it in them to exclude anyone.

The 4 bit teams that bring in ££££ for Uefa are UTD, Real, Barac and Bayern
Thats all Uefa care about, so losing City, PSG and Liverpool will not bother them at all.

City get banned from Europe by Uefa.... City appeal, Uefa say, okay you can be in Europe but pay a fine of £35million, Platini goes home that evening with cash sticking out of every pocket. Everyone's happy.

Main thing I took is that overall debt has gone down hasnt it?

And to those clinging to some vain hope that we'll fail FFP, never going to happen ;)

I've seen it quoted that external debt has gone down 29% to 45million which gives a figure of around 65million for the external debt. So no overall debt is up, just the source is internal and thus doesn't necessarily have to be paid back nor have interest on it. IE this money is owed to Henry the troll, not a bank. He may be charging interest and want it back but "owner debt" in football is usually lower interest than banks and often never paid back, but just written off.

Football 365 thinks this was mostly down to the 25mil on Allen and borini with another 20mil on Sturridge and Coutinho, apparently not realising that the 45mil will be amortised over at least 4 years so count as likely 11mil max on the books(though there were 6 players signed(can't recall off top of my head who the other two were) so lets say maybe 15mil total of 50mil. Sky website can't account for amortisation, imagine my surprise.

Overall the numbers aren't terrible, commercial increased by 30mil in that season, yet losses increased from 40 to 50mil, meaning overall swing is some 40mil increase on the previous season. With only 20mil external debt paid down, they aren't positive or brilliant, but aren't terrible. The main thing with FFP will be several years of loss adding up to way over FFP levels. You have more commercial incoming since then, and tv revenue is up, but that will be reflected in new signings, new contract extensions and higher wages for people brought in the coming summer with CL in mind.

I think it was Frank banging on about replacement players wouldn't get as much as Vidic or Rio because they had been there for ages....... Neymar is on a higher wage than Messi now, should be all you need to know in that regard. He's been there for what 14-15 years now, has won everything, is there most important player and the new big signing is on more at what 20/21yrs old and in his first season at the club.

Also depends what bonuses/wages Liverpool players have already. It could be that 80% of the squad makes 20% higher wages if they qualify for the champs league(for seasons they are in it) thus the 20mil min, probably 30mil or so champs league money can be "gone" without signing or changing anything.

The last set of accounts were only 10 months DM. Had you annualised them (based on there being minimal income but the same costs in those additional 2 monthsl) then losses are down from last year. And the loans from fsg are interest free.

LOL as if UEFA are going to ban the big teams for not making FFP, at best they will get a big fine and that will be that.

Although it would be nice to see UEFA grow a pair of ****ing balls and ban these teams like Liverpool, PSG and City to name but a few. Sure they will be missing out on CL but it will make them get their books in order for them to compete the next season.
