Football Fixtures 27-28th September *Spoilers*

To be fair, £51m for Keane and Berbatov is a lot of money to turn down and he wasn't left with any time to bring in a replacement for the latter. But having spent £77m you would expect better regardless of who has been sold. Paul Robinson may have his critics but I'm not sure what parallel universe it is where Gomes is a better keeper than him.

How much control does Ramos have over the transfer dealings though?

Even if he has full control over transfers, he still had a huge job on his hands. I mentioned earlier that Spurs have always been poor at the back and not much better in midfield and relied on their front line to win them games. Losing both Berbatov and Keane left him with having to more or less rebuild a whole side.

Regardless of that, given the players they have they should be doing better but i no longer see them as 'the best of the rest', they're just a mid-table side again imo.

Great finish by Carew. Would love to see Ashley Young in a Liverpool shirt one day. Best winger, and by winger I mean a player that actually plays on the wing rather than upfront, by a mile.

Im sure that would please O'Neil if we went for him next summer :D

He needs add a few more goals to his game though and although he gets a lot of assists, a lot of that could be to do with the amount of targets he's got in the Villa side. Given that his game is more about going past players and putting balls into the box rather than being a goal threat, i think he could do a lot better playing down the right than the left. He's certainly got a lot of potential though.
Can't wait till we play Spurs in the Carling cup, should be rather funny. :D

You are setting us up for a fall there. We've really got nothing to win with that game. Even if we field our under-14's everybody will expect us to win with the way Sprurs are playing.

Given he's right footed I don't really know why he's played on the left. Would be an ideal replacement for Kuyt as well as a massive upgrade. Perhaps Villa would be open to a straight swap :D

Well everyone is already expecting us to win.

Depends what team Rafa puts out, hopefully it's a decent one.

Spurs should try and sign Zaki in January if he continues as he is, not sure he'd want to go though....

Are you seriously trying to suggest they're better players?

Hands off Zaki, shame we dont have a clause for the option to buy, doubt he would go to another team though but money talks.

If we're going for an out and out right winger then i'd rather see Babel be given a run out there. He's got more potential than Young imo and is a much bigger goal threat too. With Keane and Torres up top we're not really looking for somebody to put crosses into the box but to come in field and link up.

Anyway we all know Rafa's not going to drop Kuty (who incidently was my motm yesterday) :p

I highly doubt we'll field a strong side tbh. At best it'll be a similar side to the Crewe game.

Kuyt has a place in the team when we play attacking teams that keep possession well and when we're defending a lead. Against teams that sit back and let us have all the possession like Stoke last weekend he's actually detrimental to the team because he disrupts our attacks.

I thought Kuyt had a good game compared to his recent standards. Good ball retention, passed it at the right moments, actually got in the box which created Torres' 2nd goal and we all know his work rate by now

Please tell me you're joking? There is no doubting he was ****ing horrendous!

Not at all. As usual he ran his ******* off and suprisingly kept possesion really well too. He also kept Lescott back in Everton's half (who caused us problems last season) for the best part of the game.
