Football Fixtures 27-28th September *Spoilers*

Hughes doesnt really believe he is going to get longer than one season does he?

I loved the way on Sky, he was asked how he felt about managing the world's richest club and he just arrogantly said that he deserves it - no humility at all. He obviously thinks he's something really special.

I think it was blatantly not a penalty.

Palacios as I said, made a dog's dinner of it but he got to the ball before Garrido. He at most would have been knocked off balance if he didn't perform such a ridiculous flying dive through the air. All whilst looking at the referee.

said we're not bottom of the league, said we're not bottom of the league!

Wow spurs are suffering, I mean we are always bad, and we have also hit the self-destruct button, but whats happened to spurs!?!

Great win for wigan and hull , a lot of teams showing they arn't pushovers, which I believe will make the relegation battle very interesting, sadly that will probs push toon town in the end

It's funny how I'll happily read most posts, but when it comes to drunkenmaster's wall of text, I just automatically scroll past without bothering.

Same. Ive noticed he's started using capital letters now, makes it a bit easier if anybody does want to read it :)

Just watched the highlights of the derby again and noticed something about Cahill's red card.

Does anybody know whether Cahill was actually sent off for the challenge on Alonso? I ask as iinm it was Riley who got in trouble for not sending off Ashley Cole vs Spurs last year for not turning around and talking to him, and similarly Cahill refused to go to Riley after he called him over a couple of times and then Riley walked over to Cahill and showed him the red. Im just wondering if Riley sent him off for discent.

Yeah thats the way I interpreted it too.

The foul was no way strong enough to warrant a red card, I think Riley had decided on a yellow, blew his whistle to call Cahill over, at which point Cahill seemed to pretend he hadnt heard. Riley blew again, still Cahill cheerfully ignored it , and I think at that point Riley thought..right, sod it, you're off.

His ramblings certainly live upto his name well:p

What a great season so far, weve beat the mancs and bluenoses and we havent even really got going yet.

What do you lads think of Dossena,Im struggling to see why we paid 7 mill for the lad.

At times in games ive thought he's looked pretty good but for the best part he's struggled. Hopefully with a few weeks more bedding in he'll settle down. Thought he had a good game yesterday though.

Needs time to adapt to life in England as well as the Premiership. He also needs time to form a partnership with Riera. From what I've seen of him he looks far better than Riise did in his last few seasons.

Strikes me how Ramos hasn't been removed.

Any manager who sells Defoe, Keane and Berbatov and replaces them with Pavlyuchenko (a player who needed 5 chances to score at the Euro's) needs his head checking. No tactics, playing players like Assou-Ekotto, Dawson and Zokora and making Jenas Captain... honestly, my mind boggles.

You thought he was good yesterday!? He was rubbish. He can't pass and he's not very quick. Aurelio looks a much better player. His first touch was awful yesterday (and has been in the 4 games I've seen him in) and he constantly plays passes away from players, knocking balls long putting them out for goal-kicks, or simply missing the man and putting it for a throw-in.

I think he'll come good, but yesterday he was your worst player by a street.

Definantly but i still feel far more comfortable with Aurelio at lb. Shame he's always ****ing injured :(
Aurelio's much quicker and seems to have a better cross but he's really soft. Breaks too easily, as you said, but also looks scared to tackle. Hopefully seeing Carragher and Skrtel nailing people left, right and centre will have an effect of him but I'm not expecting him to grow a pair any time soon.

Don't agree with that at all. He had Arteta in his pocket all game yesterday and although he didn't get forward as much as he has previously he still supported Riera well too.

In previous games i agree, he looks to knock balls over the top for Torres too often and his touch has let him down but i didn't think so yesterday.

You're right he doesn't go flying into tackles but positionally he's usually excellent. Although he hasn't yet showed it yet (other than once in pre-season) Dossena's meant to have a bit of a nasty side and isn't afraid to get stuck in.

Will be interesting to see what happens to Ramos if Spurs have a bad October; he could potentially get knocked out of Europe, get embarrassed in the league by a couple of newly promoted sides and lose a derby match to Arsenal. Considering how ruthlessly Jol was cast aside last year you would have to start fearing for his safety if he can't turn things round.

To be fair, £51m for Keane and Berbatov is a lot of money to turn down and he wasn't left with any time to bring in a replacement for the latter. But having spent £77m you would expect better regardless of who has been sold. Paul Robinson may have his critics but I'm not sure what parallel universe it is where Gomes is a better keeper than him.

Bent - 3
Pavlyuchenko - 1
Berbatov -0
Keane - 0

According to MOTD2 under Ramos Spurs have got 42 points from 31 games, a worse record than under Christian Gross.

Wow.
