Football Manager 2008 announced

Whoop whoop!!! Can't wait, as always :D

I've not read that huge release thread on sigames, but I wonder if they've sorted out that thing with the Dutch and German (and Japanese iirc) national teams.

Doubt it. I haven't read the entire thread but its a licensing issue I think and SI can't afford the licences or something. :(

Gonna get this,looks good.I thought the 2006 to 2007 wasn't a huge jump tbh but as I didn't buy 2007 I'm gonna get 2008.How much is it to buy atm?Cheapest I've found is £25?

thats easy to change, just need the "correct" fake.lnc --google for it.

should be able to get it for 17.99 at launch, i have done for the last 2 versions from a popular online retailer.

Oh right,I guess I won't pre-order it just yet then. Can't wait! 19th October is the release right?Hope its not any longer than that,I need my FM fix when I'm in Uni!

Yeah normally you can PRE-ORDER it for £17.99. The normal places haven't been selling it for this though, £24.99 instead. Still its a good 'un but if I can find it for £17.99 I'll get it there, otherwise £24.99 it'll have to be.

And skanky is right about the fake.lnc. You'll probably find FM fan sites uploading new fake.lnc files soon after the game is out.

October 19th is probably an estimated date. Until the game goes gold SI really don't know themselves.

Still no 3d match engine and no ability to play as one of your players or be a player manager.

I miss kevin keegans player manager on the snes and player manager on the psx even tho that had a 2d engine.

Footy manager games are getting too complicated these days, i just used to like training them as in set the coach to train them in either passing shooting dribbling or keeping etc and then pick a formation then play. lol those were the days. :)

Its called Football Manager for a reason. Its a managing game. I don't know of any player/player manager games.

Yeah they are getting a bit complicated but only because they are trying to emulate the real job as best as they can.

Does anybody know anything about system requirements and loading times? My gripe with FM06 was that with only a small amount of leagues (5 or 6, on Medium database but full detail) my turns could take up to 3 minutes, with saves taking in excess of that, which really annoyed me as cutting down on leagues or database size reduced my enjoyment (as did the extreme loading of course). Has this been optimised at all?

Was going to start a new thread but seen this one so no need ;) looking forward to the demo and see what they have changed , from what i saw of the skin i didnt like the look of it too much but until i have a play of the demo i will reserve judgement , newcastle might even have a half decent team for a change.

Yeah I'm not convinced about the skin but I'll wait until I've played the demo to see what it's really like.

They normally fix that bug by the time FM has gone gold. ;):p
